Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 12, 2008 7:18 am Hi Michelle (and everyone),
I am addicted to the MVH software - I have done up a lot of houses in it just getting ideas and colours and whatever. One thing I have tried and like the look of is light walls with dark cornices, skirting boards and door trims (e.g. white walls with black trim or light tan type colour walls with chocolatey brown trim). I'm not sure though how this would look in real life. What do you think? Re: light walls, dark trim 2Sep 12, 2008 8:12 am Don't know about the aesthetic effect but know that maintenance would be a pain.
Can you imagine how these trims would look when the paint is chipped ? What about the accumulation of dust ? Like cars, darker colours show up everything Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: light walls, dark trim 5Sep 12, 2008 12:14 pm Hi Muzzman, good to see you still have time for us!!
If this colour scheme is done properly and to the right style and age home, it can look fantastic!!! IMHO going bold dark colours works better than other options I have seen (ie. trims dark cream and walls lighter cream ... I know lots of people have this, but it just looks wrong to me!) Re: light walls, dark trim 8Sep 12, 2008 1:59 pm You can’t do this colour scheme with average selections in your home.
As said, you need the wide skirtings and arcks and a period style home/high ceilings to achieve this look. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: light walls, dark trim 9Sep 13, 2008 7:33 am Here's what I mean

If I were to keep the internal walls the same colour, what should the trim be? Just plain white? Re: light walls, dark trim 13Sep 13, 2008 9:37 pm In the house we built previously we had Antique White USA on the walls, terracotta floor tiles and our trims(skirting and door frames) was a touch lighter than the terracotta floor.......it looked really nice..... sorry I don't have any photos to show.
