We used 3m tags to hang them and the frames were able to be opened and we were able to swap the photos every 6 months.
We at one stage also had our buffet underneath and I had 1 vase on top and one on the ground to give different dimensions to the space. With different sized flowers and sticks. These 2 options are not permanent so you can change them later without damaging your walls. I like to change things around alot so thats why this was my thought. This is an example of one of our photo walls Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: What to do in the hallway??? 25Sep 10, 2008 10:55 am gweluphome, I like the idea of family photos in a hallway, our front hallway is 5m long and we are going to do something like this, probably just 2 long frames, with 4 photos in each, one on each side.
I think this gives such a warm and personal touch as you enter the home. However I do remember Michelle not being keen on this photos in hallway idea in a previous thread. Oh well, at least you and me like it Re: What to do in the hallway??? 26Sep 10, 2008 11:09 am I think Helyn it has been something my whole family has done. So when you walk in you get an automatic feel for your home. I like to change the photos around sometimes aswell. My girlfriend of 20 years is in a pic with me and I sometimes put one up of us when we were 15 Those were the days.
My friends always comment on our previous homes looking like a display homes Thats not a big note by the way (I am just very particular that everything has a spot and all my decorations are on show) and I found this was one way of personalising straight up, and thats not the feel I want for our house. I want it to be family and inviting. But my OCD will still come into play I am sure I find if they are really nice photos in nice frames and most of the people that visit us are generally in those photos they get a kick out of it aswell. Boy can I talk lately..........no short answers for me........ I am going to have to learn to halve my sentences. ......Its nice to have a fellow family photo comrad. Re: What to do in the hallway??? 27Sep 10, 2008 11:20 am In our last house we had a double wall area in a corner of the main living/diving area around the dining table that we used as a display area for a themed collection. I also had some of these as a themed collection in single file for a while down a hallway. A big, open plan room it housed kitchen, dining, games, family and a corner for my office. Anyway I had large and small frames and filled them with postcards collected from a 10 wk overseas trip to the Uk and Ireland. It was a way to display beautiful postcards that would otherwise have ended up in a box somewhere gathering dust. Some frames held 2 postcards and 2 large ones held 8. It was always a huge talking point for visitors. I also had a large map which showed where we had been . I'd marked out our trip ( we did 3k miles) and that was housed nearby. Re: What to do in the hallway??? 29Sep 10, 2008 11:54 am Rachelle, That is fantastic. Love that pic. Thats a look I would love to do. I just have so many wall things....I love it. Pic is now added to favorites.
Did I mention that I love that wall Re: What to do in the hallway??? 30Sep 10, 2008 12:01 pm Another OCD freak here. That photo wall, I'm sure I would spend my life making sure the spaces between the frames were 100% equal.
I'm going to have white box frames in one line along our hallway with family photos. But that artwork from Adrians relly would look magnificent with your feature wall. Re: What to do in the hallway??? 32Sep 10, 2008 4:06 pm Hi Adrain,
I have tried to open the pictures that you have in your post but not showing. Could you or somebody else try it again? Why is that everybody else can see them but not me Mrs B Re: What to do in the hallway??? 34Sep 10, 2008 4:13 pm This happens to me all the time Mrs B, don't know why
What I do now is hit the quote button and then copy and paste the link for the image into a new Internet explorer page and that brings up the image, it then shows up in the original post when I go back to it too.......BUT if anyone knows a simpler solution, I'm all ears (or eyes as the case may be ) 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: What to do in the hallway??? 35Sep 10, 2008 4:24 pm Hi Adrian,
I just read your post properly. Are they your photos?.....very nice!!! 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: What to do in the hallway??? 36Sep 10, 2008 4:27 pm there are some great ideas here ... love the ottoman Mich, if our hallway wasn't so skinny we'd have one of those.
Also love leni's paintings Adrian, just gorgeous. And the photo walls look great - will definitely be doing one of these I think but not too big as I think with the big ones you sort of want to stand back to look at it properly ? And we won't have room for that. Mrs B and 'chelle I can't see the pics either, will have to try your trick 'chelle. I am also a fan of the art and the ottoman ideas but the table is good because you can keep keys and sunnies close to the front door. Otherwise they end up living on the kitchen bench, like they are now. There is no hall table in our rental.....there is no hall.... All the ideas are wonderful though. So many to consider.
