I say go for it! The colours are absolutely wonderful. Perfect for boys. The only suggestion I'd have, and it's been suggested before, is to make youngest DS's blue a little darker. The other green and blue are timeless shades. My DS is ten and has loved blue for as long as I can remember. Everything is blue and he has never tired of blue. The tones are such that they lend themselves to other masculine colours such as taupes and greys. I think they're fabulous. And I'm with you Mrs B on doing something different, I'm also trying to avoid using feature walls. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 22Sep 08, 2008 6:02 pm Mrs B…..in relation to your colours dating…..well you know how that one goes.
The style of your home will really suite the wardrobe doors you like. As Jo has said, if you do the doors, you don’t have to worry too much about any feature walls in those rooms. It just means that when the boys are tired of their colours, or they move out one day…..yes it happens they do move out! It means you will have to take the doors off and have them 2packed in a different colour. No biggy……so I think you should do it! Maybe even do the oldest DS's one in stripes. If you do it that way it's relatively easy to change when they (or you) get sick of it.

I have read all of your opinions a few times over so now I have a decision to make. just to clear up a bit of confusion...I have 3 boys (one is just a baby hence the light blue colour) The dark blue is for DS1, the green DS2 and the light blue DS3 I really want to do something a bit funky and different for the boys rooms. Will think about this a bit longer but I think I will go for the coloured doors...now I can work on their window furnishings...yippeee Mrs B Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 25Sep 09, 2008 10:22 am Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 27Sep 09, 2008 1:16 pm Good choice Mrs B
I think Mich is right too - it'd be alot easier to change the doors then having to repaint a feature wall Have fun window dressing shopping My karma ran over your dogma Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 28Sep 10, 2008 1:41 am Brave choice Mrs B.
Looking forward to seeing them. They sure do look terrific in the pics and whats life without a little risk ... even if it's only colour . Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 29Sep 10, 2008 9:09 am Mrs B I love the top colour. this will look fabulous. I can imagine it looking very classy with a lot of other colours and certainly not "young"
When I bought basic tallboys furniture for our boys i got them in a light grey with black handles. And bought black framed beds. Definately not baby colours but i figured I could dress the room up in other ways to make it look young. I would love to use your top colour in one of my boys bedrooms. I could imagine it going in beautifully with the grey and black bed furniture they have. We will be replacing our boys beds with kingsized singles once we move into our new house. arghh decisions on colours again once that happens. Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 30Jan 11, 2009 9:43 am HI Mrs B I know you like strong colours and even though this isn't on the scale of what you were hoping to achieve i wanted to share this photo I found on a real estate page. It's from a house for sale in the suburb we used to live in.
I love the strong orange /yellow colour mixed with the pale blue. The quilt is quite busy but I love the way the colours of it are echoed around the room. The red on the chair cushion. the timber in frames, chair and floor. The pale blue repeated in the blind. The yellow and blue even in the draped footy scarf. I think they've been very clever in putting the room colours together. It's not a big room but the way it's been staged would appeal to their buyer market. Really nice colour wall Kexkez! Thankyou so much for posting the link. Its amazing how different colours can work together in one room. At the moment I am working on green, blue and white combos for the older two boys and for my baby, green, light blue, white and maybe splashes of orange and yellow in cushions. All the walls are painted white but for an update for people just reading this thread...Yes I did go with kiwi Green in all their wardrobe doors They are actually at the painters now bring sprayed. We also bought the two older boys their beds, chocolate coloured leather, single kings. Neither of them wanted a double bed that took up space. Look at my blog for the type of chairs they want in their rooms Mrs B Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 34Jan 11, 2009 2:03 pm kek The chairs are not exactly my thing - but trust a man to point out that they're the same as the ones in MIB. Of COURSE the boys would want them then.... haha...they are definately not my thing either Kek. I was imagining some cool, designer chairs but instead they want big white egg, ball shape things from MIB Donuts, if I showed my boys the soccer ball chair your son has got then I am in real trouble Oh dear, it was so much easier when I was responsible for all decorating decisions. mrs B Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 35Jan 11, 2009 4:46 pm I've given up on the kids' rooms. It was so simple when they were babies and I could add pretty fabrics, lovingly embroidered wall art, my choice of bedlinen and so on.
My eldest decorates HIS room with dirty underwear and stockpiled cartons of beer (in between electronic gadgets), the middle one has hideous death metal band posters on the walls and likes any colour - as long as it's black, and the youngest ....hmm, I might get away with something fun and vaguely stylish with him, at least for a year or two. *sigh* I just insist they keep their doors closed so I don't have to see the mayhem. I'll have to live vicariously through your blog photos, Mrs B.... Re: Colours and wardrobe ideas for boys 36Jan 11, 2009 10:53 pm kek I've given up on the kids' rooms.
