Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 07, 2008 9:57 am Hi guys here is one of our next decisions. I have always been very safe(boring) with my choices. I usually prefer very plain colours but I am ready to explore my options. So here are our options for our ensuite. I will decide on tiles based around my cupboard selection.
Pure Mineralstone Diamond Gloss and Oyster Linea Vinyl Wrap Doors. My dilemma is I like these 2 colour options. I have always been of the impression that you can't mix patterns. Do you think theselook ok mixed. I am sure some of you are having some of theses colours, so please let me know if there are some other choices to look at. I also have the laundry and main bathroom cupboard decision next so I am tackeling one room at a time. Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 2Sep 07, 2008 10:13 am I think my favourite is the third one. My first instict is the patterns do look a bit busy mixed, but someone has probably used this combo and will post a photo and it will be fantastic Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 3Sep 07, 2008 10:21 am the kitchen in our current rental has polar white cupboards and a stone speckle type bench top. I'm kind of keen on the patterned tops and plain cupboard look. But plain doesn't have to mean light coloured. I like your last combo. the middle one would be my least favoured one. In the top one the speckle is neutral enough I guess you could have it.
Are you going to have colourful decorator type items on your bathroom cupboards? vases, decorative soaps like paula, dee ell etc? because if you are I'd tend to go a plain cupboard top or almost plain and patterned doors. I've grabbed a quick shot of the benchtop. it came out looking rather brown in one shot and very grey in the next. It's closer to the grey than brown. a bit busier than the speckle one you'd picked but it is still ok to have decorator items on it. It's not too busy. We are using oyster linea for cupboards and Quantum Quartz Coral Reef stone benchtops I love the earthy/beachy feel it gives off Here is a pic of my bathroom selections - I think the Oyster Linea and the QQ benchtop look great together Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My karma ran over your dogma Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 6Sep 07, 2008 12:11 pm They all look fine I think! My first thought is not to mix patterns as well, hence why I am having plain benchtops with oyster linea cupboards in bathroom, but I really think it will look fine. But personally I like the last one best - Stipple Seal is a nice colour. Have you got actual samples of them both as sometimes the they look different on the screen.
We are having Pure Mineralstone in our WIP benchtop - but with polar white cupboards. Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 7Sep 07, 2008 2:55 pm Haywgl your colours look lovely next to each other I think the stone you are going for has a little more beige in it than my white background so it ties in well. I look forward to seeing the end result and I can make a better decision on mine then.
Donuts I do have the samples all sitting next to me and many many many more...... I think I have looked at too many options now. We possibly have very similar colour ideas by the looks. I think the other thing is I want to use that oyster linea somewhere....just where is the question. Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 8Sep 07, 2008 3:13 pm I love the Oyster Linea….I love all the lineas at the moment.
But I also love the Stipple Seal……tough choice! But professionally…… pattern on pattern is not a good idea. So based on that I would have to say Mineral Stone Diamond Gloss and Stipple Seal Doors Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 9Sep 07, 2008 3:27 pm Thanks Michelle, I think thats the one I am drawn to the most. Next I am going to look at DS bathroom. I will see you in that post soon.
I think this is number 5 decision made now. Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 11Sep 07, 2008 6:32 pm We have used Stipple Seal with Natural Quartz benchtop in our bathrooms & laundry (I really liked it & was all too hard to choose something else!!)
I think the stipple seal is a great colour - seems to go with most colours... I like the lineas too though, there are so many great choices....makes it hard!! Re: Ensuite colour..........Starting to look at my options...... 12Sep 07, 2008 9:16 pm My two cents worth
First one looks great Second one is a bit stark Third one is my fave A lot of ppl have busy floors (tiles or wood) and still go for the linea or wood grain cupboards. It doesn't necessarily look bad and I'm not convinced that benchtops and cupboards need to follow a different formula. And what about busy floors and curtains or different patterned cushions. But in principle I agree with Mish; you need to be careful mixing patterns - and if done well it can look terrific. But what do I know ... I've got a black kitchen . Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6128 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11828 |
