Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 05, 2008 4:57 pm This is how we have been feeling - very happy with how everything has turned out, but soooo tired from the move last weekend & then cleaning the old house Monday working 3 days, to finally have another day off today & it's a student free day !!! Tomorrow is Jed's first birthday & Mike's 40th, so visitors coming......looking forward to a quiet weekend.....just not sure when that will be!!! I'll update my thread over the next few days with some pics, but for now I thought I'd share some of our Murray Red Splashback!!! I absolutely love how my kitchen turned out - many thanks to Mish for helping with the kitchen & everyone else who offered their thoughts on the splashback. The splashback looks so different depending on wether it is night or day, or even if the rangehood lights are on.....& IMO it's made such a statement in the home & looks fantastic....so glad I went a bit brave Here it is is from a couple of different angles & also with the rangehood lights on & off, so you could see what I mean.... Really compliments your floor, too. Can I ask, do you have it under your window too, or are my eyes playing tricks on me? 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: My splashbacks in!.....& so are we...... 4Sep 05, 2008 5:14 pm Jo, it looks absolutely stunning!!!!
And yes it’s perfect with your floor boards. It’s a beautiful kitchen you have there. Yes chelle, its under the window as well. Jo……I wounder if I could impose on you, would it be ok if you send me this photo? Could I use it on my website? Perfectly fine if you don’t want to, just thought I would ask. Absolutely superb. I'm also thinking of using a Murray Red splashback. Can you help me with some questions that should help with my selections: 1) For the splashback glass, did you use normal or starfire? 2) What are the cupboard colours? 3) Can you tell me about the floorboards (species, thickness, fixing method)? What you've done has worked out so well and I could do with some info. Michelle, of course!! I would be honoured, although I just noticed the baby bottle in the sink, so I can take another one if you like! Quote: Do you have drawers in your Island? HappyHome, we have 2 banks of drawers in the island. Casa, the cabinetmaker called our glass optiwhite (I think)?? I don't think it was starfire. Cupboard colours are laminex moleskin & kickers & panels around island bench are laminex peruvian clay. Floorboards are Sydney Blue Gum 13mm direct stick to concrete slab & are probably one of the favourite things in our house - along with the Murray Red Splashback The carpet buts up to the floorboards really well at this thickness - I'll get some more photo's of that updated over the next few days...... Re: My splashbacks in!.....& so are we...... 14Sep 06, 2008 10:26 am You know why red is working so well at the moment for everyone and their splashbacks????
Because of the current colours available in selections and what people are using. Most of the stones have a slight brown in them……deep red is a nice complementary colour for brown. A lot of people are using brown laminates……deep red and brown again. This is why the deep red works at the moment in our current trend/styles Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: My splashbacks in!.....& so are we...... 15Sep 06, 2008 10:29 am Thanks Jo…..I saw the bottle also, but hey I just appreciate a photo.

You've got so many nice things in your kitchen, that I'm going to have to ask some more questions. Firstly, yes Optiwhite is a glass type (by Pilkington). I originally selected Sydney Blue Gum, but after looking at some samples and the wide colour variations was put off it. Yours look nice and uniform. For the floorboards what: * brand are they? * width? * grade? * surface finish? I hope I'm not imposing too much. Michelle suggested a red splashback for me too. By the looks of that lovely one of your's I'll have to reconsider it. Go for it Steve!! Casa, you are not imposing at all - this is what this forum is all about, sharing information!! We got our boards through Planet Timbers, they are a Perth based company who are also in SA - I don't know if they are in NSW. They have quite a good website though if you have a look. Dy (DeeElle) also got her spotted gum floor through them. They source their timber through somewhere in NSW. They may have this info on their website, but I know I've read comments by Dy about this so she probably knows a bit more. Ours are 83mmx12mm strip flooring tongue & groove. They are the top grade - I think this was called Select & I know it is a grade above what Boral do. This may be why they are a bit more uniform??? In saying that though there is still some colour variations, but I actually really like that. We used an oil based gloss finish. I had posted some photo's when the finish first went on - here is the link: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... c&start=45 Jo Re: My splashbacks in!.....& so are we...... 20Sep 06, 2008 3:51 pm Thanks so much for the photo Jo!!!
It’s up on my website and looking a bit special! I love your floors by the way, that’s the colour timber flooring I think always looks best! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com |
