Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 04, 2008 9:30 am Hi All,
The cabinet maker just called to say they can't do my Laminex in the WIP as it only comes in bullnose (which I don't want!) So I have to quickly choose another. A recap on my other colours for kitchen: main kitchen bench - C/stone Nova Aurora main kitchen cupboards - glossy white vinyl wrap (polar white) WIP kitchen cupboards - laminex polar white walls - Dulux Antique White USA floors - Tas Oak My original bench for WIP was Natural Quartz. I am thinking maybe I should go for a solid colour rather than the stone looking ones now? As it might clash with my c/s? What do people think? It's just the WIP so I'm not really stressed by the decision, but I'm spewing that I just threw out all my Laminex samples the other day and have nothing to look at! All opinions welcome. thanks Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 3Sep 04, 2008 9:57 am thanks PIP, that's probably a good idea and will fit nicely with my all-white colour scheme... will keep it in mind! Have to ring cabinet maker back sometime today to let him know. Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 4Sep 04, 2008 10:02 am That’s what I was going to say……white!
At least it will reflect plenty of light in there for you. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 5Sep 04, 2008 10:04 am I'd probably go for a stone looking one to compliment the caeserstone, if not a solid colour the completely contrasted with the white.
Could you pick up a colour that is a fleck in the Nova Aurora? Or what about stainless steele look laminate? It would compliment your appliances and define it as a work area. If it was me I'd steer clear of white because of potential staining but then I'm so messy. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 6Sep 04, 2008 10:06 am White sounds good, and I don't want to confuse the issue (!) but is there another laminex that looks like your kitchen c/stone (besides the one that's been deleted!) ? Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 7Sep 04, 2008 10:14 am Donuts, Have Laminex changed this colour.....as in, it is one of their choices for squareform benchtops which means they can do the bench without a bullnose?
We did platinum micro square form, I will try and get a pic for you, They tend to all just look white beige in photos though....I will see what I can do. I would ask about that colour though its defineately still on their website as a squareform colour. Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 8Sep 04, 2008 10:20 am I see what you mean re staining issues Jo I would be prone to them also.
Stainless steel - hmmm would need to really think about that one and I don't think I have enough time to... OK so if I go for a stone looking one, there is one called Pure Mineralstone which is a bit similar to nova aurora but the flecks are darker: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Nova Aurora Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Maybe I should just go with that? Only the only sample I had of that was in diamond gloss - hope it comes in a natural/flint finish gweluphome - don't know about the squareform option - but assumed this would cost extra so didn't bother asking. would love to see your pic Re: Help! It's beetroot mainly. It is beyond me to use betroot without getting it all over the bench. I'm just messy but relieved to hear donuts is as well. No, I really do like it! When does your cabinetry go in???? Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow, but the plasterers aren't finished, and cornice hasn't even begun yet, so who knows! I'm guessing mine'll be a while off now if they are still ordering my laminates but it looks like my builder has a different order of things, as they are laying our floorboards at the moment! Got some pics on my thread Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 18Sep 04, 2008 11:10 am Laminex is non-porous so spillages should not stain, even things like beetroot, if you wipe them up at the time.
No different to, say, the white of your stove top or white of a fridge surface which don't stain if things spilt. That said, I prefer the flecked ones anyway. Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 19Sep 04, 2008 11:10 am I saw that they were putting those in chez donuts - I'll have to go and have a look! Now THAT is very, very exciting - and they put them in before the skirting -lucky you!!!! We're getting ours after h/over (Tassie Oak, too ) I think my staircase is going in as we speak!!!!! There were 2 different vans there this morning , as well as the plasterers, and I know the stairs were ordered for today, so fingers crossed that's what the vans are there for!!!!!! Off to look at your boards Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Help! Need to make quick decision re WIP bench 20Sep 04, 2008 11:14 am Helyn,
My spillage/stainage problem is severe. I can stain anything. With ours I just bit the bullet and put stone everywhere, even the laundry. I was prepared to compromise on other things in order to not have to worry about my staining problem. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick 1.
