Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 30, 2008 8:13 pm Hi there
I need recommendations for a neutral white colour to paint my kitchen/dining room. My kitchen cupboards are a light grey/blue colour, and on the floor are white tiles with a light grey fleck. So I am looking for a white colour that is going to blend with these tones. I am looking for a white colour with a very slight hint of grey to it. I definitely don’t want any tones of cream/yellow, green, or pink. But neither do I want the colour to look too grey either. I am considering using Dulux Lexicon, but my only concern is that it will look too stark white. I also need suggestions for a colour for the doors, skirting boards, and trims etc. I want these to be white as well, but am unsure if I should do them the same colour as the walls, or perhaps a colour lighter still, something like Dulux Vivid White. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Re: Looking for the right shade of white 2Aug 31, 2008 2:26 pm Andalee…I have the A4 brush out of the Dulux Lexicon, not a bad colour.
Also look at Dulux Winnow, I have this is my home. I needed a greyish tone to blend with my grey floor and wall tiles. Winnow is perfect with greys. Also I did all the one colour throughout, ceiling, skirts architraves and doors. With such a light colour on the walls you are best sticking to the one colour. You might want to have a look at that!
Michelle - I love your skirting boars - they're kind of like my cornice (it's called 'Jazz') !!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Looking for the right shade of white 4Aug 31, 2008 5:08 pm The colour or the style petal?
The colour is Winnow the same as my walls, the style is now well out of date, but I love them. Michelle I haven't been able to find the Dulux colour chip called Winnow that you suggested. Is it perhaps an older colour that is no longer part of the Dulux current colour range? Re: Looking for the right shade of white 7Sep 02, 2008 10:04 am No it’s not discontinued; it’s a part of the decorator range….which means it’s not for display in the shops!
You will have to ask an attended to show you in the Dulux fan deck they have. This is a nice bit of fun as well…..just type in the colour you want to look at. But remember they will not be true to colour over the net! http://www.dulux.com.au/html/specifier/ ... atlas.aspx Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Looking for the right shade of white 8Sep 10, 2008 9:54 pm Hi again Michelle
Just wanted to ask you another question about Dulux Lexicon. I noticed on another post you said that "Lexicon will give you a cooler environment, not good for a home." I would like to go with a slightly warmer colour, but I'm worried that it will not go with the colour of the kitchen. Do you have any other suggestions for a colour that could work? Re: Looking for the right shade of white 9Sep 11, 2008 9:49 am Lexicon….is a cool “white” as compared to warm "whites".
Lexicon would be great in a home that gets lots of sun, as it would have a cool appeal. Can you remind me what colours your kitchen is…… Thanks. I have attached a picture of the colour of my kitchen cupboards... it's a light grey/blue. I have not been able to find the colour you suggested called Winnow. I have looked in the Dulux fandeck and also the Dulux master palette colour register. Thank you for the suggestion Helen, that colour looks really lovely too... another one that I may consider. It’s still on the Dulux register, I ordered one a couple of weeks ago. l I’ll have a look at your kitchen colour when I get home, not game to give comment from this monitor!
