Here are a few before and after pics of my kitchen/lounge area makeover. Michelle, Fantastic Great colour selections 3/4 strength of Jodpurs throughout looks excellent. DeeElle Thank you. (You created lots more work but it gives excellent results) When you suggested I rip off the beam cover strips, Paint the timber cornice (sacrilege) Noooooooo........... But thank you - It looks excellent (which after I'd plastered the gaps, (twice) (then undercoated them) & then gave it all 2 top coats. All up I've calculated 5000 steps on the ladder and at least 2 football pitches in paintbrush cutting in. (But hey - That's better than painting the beams And worth every aching moment of it. (I call it winter exercise) Paula thanks for the motivation to go the extra yards. So after a few business trips interstate and many ladder trips to the heights of my lofty ceilings - this rooms painted Following are a few during and after pics. About an hour ago I nearly sent you an email asking how you were going with Jodpurs! Haa! Looks great, I’m really happy that you are happy with the colour. Looks like you have done a fantastic paint job as well, well done, it looks really good. Thanks Michelle. I did the ceiling in the Jodpurs under the stairs to warm that area up - it looked bit stark being all white under the staris. But, oh, my knees are sore just thinking about how many steps up and down that ladder . So you're not planning on keeping the mission brown My parents house is mission brown and they just repainted, but we couldn't convince them to change the colour Good luck with the rest of it PS Gorgeous view 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Michelle does it again :D - Fantastic Advice on Colours 10Aug 25, 2008 10:25 am Looks really nice Steve, huge difference! Well done to all involved Happy at Home Re: Michelle does it again :D - Fantastic Advice on Colours 11Aug 25, 2008 12:43 pm Steve
It looks brilliant ... you've done a fantastic job. Your poor knees will never been the same again . The room looks like it has been modernised but still has the beams to place it in its original context. I love the paint job and the colours look terrific. It looks like a completely different space and much bigger. Well done Re: Michelle does it again :D - Fantastic Advice on Colours 12Aug 26, 2008 12:38 am Not sure why all you girls have problems with your knees being sore
It's my thighs and calves that needed a hot bath, but they are pretty toned up now ready for summer Dee thanks for feedback. chelle, Just a snippet of the view - wait till the mission browns gone and new railing go up (The previous had just repainted the mssion brown before I bought it) I've got 2 x 10 litre tins here if your parents want some more Floors and kitchen next on the list Mike - too bad my ladders not tall enough for 7.5 metres ceilings - and hey - I do this for fun, nice living space and the capital gain rewards - not as a living And if anyone has a thought on some replacement lamps for that end wall. I'm thinking a wall mount LED that shines down and up to highlight whatever painting I have there - and remove the middle light. Well Done. It looks warm and inviting. Yes good idea to get rid of those lights - nice small led lights to highlight the painting will be very nice. The light in the middle sticks out a bit now that everything is a light colour. Paula Re: Michelle does it again :D - Fantastic Advice on Colours 14Aug 26, 2008 8:09 pm lol I guess we think of knees coz we are on them so often scrubbing those kitchen tiles <unlikely>. I thought of my poor knees coz I fell over on site yesterday and had an up close and personal with the road surface... ouch.
Definitely remove the middle light. There are lots of different wall lights you could use. We have some terrific ones from Paradigm Living in Norwood that are more like feature picture lights. Check them out. When they are installed I'll post a pic. Your house has a very inviting warm feel and the neutral colours give it a classic modern feel. I love it. Yeah right - I believe you - not !!! Thanks for the light feedback and a pic. You must be very close to moving in Dee? re that under stairs area to the left - it will be closed off to become that junk cupboard for those areas you just can't use for anything else.
