Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 22, 2008 9:16 pm Hi all,
I'm new here and have just spent way too much time browsing the forums - what a fantastic resource. We are currently builiding our new family home in our backyard. It's double storey, with rendered polystyrene cladding and we need to start thinking about render colours. The roof is Colorbond Bushland (to match our existing Colorbond front fence). Window frames and garage panel lift doors are Colorbond Paperbark. I'm thinking that for the render, which is quite a large area, we'll probably want something lighter than the Paperbark. I believe we can select any Dulux colour for the render. Any suggestions? I'd also like to inject a bit of contrast with our front door (maybe a subtle browny-purple??). I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks! Janet Re: Any suggestions for render colour? 3Aug 23, 2008 9:21 am Janet….Hopefully I will get to your question over the weekend. Paradise Grape is a stunning deep purple/ brown. Get some sample pots and try them first. I looove the paradise grape - exactly the kind of colour I was thinking of - not loud, but not entirely neutral! I have the dulux brochures with the paint chips but it's very hard to tell what different colours will look like together or in a large expanse, so I'll definately be getting some sample pots. The Shetland Lace looks a tiny bit pink-ish, but again, hard to tell from a tiny sample chip. What do you think? Re: Any suggestions for render colour? 7Aug 24, 2008 10:35 am Jan,
If you look on the Ready..Set..Go thread by Phoenix in the Building a New House section, she has used Shetland Lace for her splashback in her kitchen I think. Might give you an idea. Start at the latest pages, there's a few pics of the kitchen completed. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. You will need to get a sample pot to see, it didn’t look like it to me. Don’t forget to put 2 coats on the wall and let it dry first before you decide. Also never take what you see on your computer screen as the actual colour.
