Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 13, 2008 3:00 pm We are building in North QLD and are at the stage we need to finalise paint colours. Need some advice on internal and external colours. Other colours we already have are:
Roof: Colorbond 'Dune' Gutters/Facias: Colorbond 'Woodland Grey' Roller Door: Colorbond 'Dune' I need exterior paint colours for the main house, feature colour for the pillars and feature colour for the matrix feature at the front (yellow part in the photo). We are thinking of either Taubmans 'Fossil' or 'Merkey Water' for the main house colur and Taubmans 'Zelda' for the pillars but still need a good feature colour for the matrix that blends in well but gives it a bit of colour. Inside we have gone with all neutral colours - cream/beige main floor tile throughout with dark chocolate carpet to bedrooms and theatre room; Espresso and Stipple Seal for vanities, kitchen (kitchen has 'Parchment' Essa Stone tops). What would a good wall colour. Someone has suggested Dulux quarter strength 'Buff It' for the walls and full strength 'Buff It' for the doors. Standard white ceiling and cornice. We are having chrome downlights and ceiling fans. Any advice would a appreciated. Thanks! I have ample amounts of paint brochures and paint cards as well as the current fan deck, and still I can’t find the colours you have mentioned. Taubmans don’t show colours on their website either, so it’s impossible for me to see your external colours. As far as you’re internal selections go Buff IT is a Dulux colour, now them I work with! Buff IT is a great colour; it’s a very neutral paint and works well with just about everything. It should look really good with your bathroom selections as well as your kitchen. Can you possibly suggest any other colours for the exterior... we want to go with neutral tones throughout the whole house, including outside. We would need a main wall colour, feature colour for pillars and matrix (either the same colour for both or two different colours - maybe two different colours so we can add in a bit of colour with the matrix so the house doesn't look to bland.
For the inside, would you go with quarter strength or full strength 'Buff It' and would we use it for walls only or walls and ceiling/cornice. What's your advice on colour for doors? We also want a feature colour for some cutouts in the entry - maybe Wattyl 'Ranch Mink' ; Dulux 'Brief Interlude' or Dulux 'Sea Elephant'. Thanks! Re: Advice on colours... 7Aug 18, 2008 4:53 pm Devendiva….I would go Buff IT full strength on the walls and half on the skirts, arcks and doors.
White for the ceiling and cornice. Buff IT is perfect with the Sea Elephant; they will make a beautiful combo internally. Externally…..I assume you want it all complementary to each other, internal and external. There’s no reason at all why you can’t go down a shade for the externals and use Dulux Finishing Touch or Blind Date for the walls. And Buff IT for the board work above the rendered walls. Feature – Matrix and columns, could be the Sea Elephant or Mud Skipper.
