Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 27, 2008 3:12 pm Ok we are pretty sure that we are not going to go with the big changes the interior decorator suggested, it really isn't going ot give us a huge gain in space and we will lose the kid's play area which our friends keep telling us we will live to regret.
Idea number 458 (or there abouts) involves leaving the house as it but moving where the tv is positioned in the lounge room. We would build a niche (I think this is what they are called) in the hallway wall to house the plasma screen tv, then underneath it we would have a built in shelf/shelves for DVD recorder - this would be into the pantry on the other side of the wall. This way nothing come out to the area that is now the hallway and our lounge will appear to be bigger. Here is the house plan - I am talking about the area named dining room (where there appears to be a break in the wall between the fridge and the pantry, there is not - it is solid wall. When I said the shelves would go into the pantry that will be in the new kitchen design. My concern is that it is a walkway to the bathroom, toilet and kid's bedrooms, I think to get a bit of extra width in the lounge I could live with that though. The other concern is that as you walk in the front door you would see that wall, but I thought now that the room is opened up we could get something (mirror/wall stand) to go against the same wall right opposite the doorway. Please tell me what you think, do you think this is a workable option? I am terrible at making decisions (as you may already be able to tell) and love to hear other's opinions. My husband is also a bit undecided. Thanks for your time and ideas, Andrea Re: Idea number 458 - what do you think? 3Jul 27, 2008 10:08 pm Hi Andrea,
Agree with Paula. It's not be my best place to put your entertainment units. It can get pretty annoying For that room, my best bet is to place your TV/entertainment unit in the wall where the blue frame hangs and reverse your sofa position. Your sofa, when facing the TV, will act as room divider to balance the room. I think you can achieve a sense of balance in that fashion. Again, looking at your plan, I would be more keen to use the family/meals area as the room to put your entertainment units - the wall facing the carport. It will be nice watching while doing kitchen chores too! Good luck, Hannah No. It's not original.
