Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 23, 2008 9:06 pm Hi Michelle (and everyone else of course )
I have had a go at working out the internal colours and wanted to run them past you guys given last time i was left to my own devices i chose lavendar kitchen cabinets (luckily michelle picked up on that one before it was too late! thanks michelle ) . the floorboards through the hallway and into open area are oak and will be fairly dark browny -red in high gloss. the bathroom tiles are charcoal grey with blue - grey feature tiles. I tried to find swatches on the internet to post here but had no luck (sorry). so here goes with the names! Most of the house Main Flow Colour; Wattyl Ermine White 13A-2P ceiling, skirts, arks and borders of cornices; tossing up between dulux lexicon quarter (B11) and dulux vivid white (B12) main colour inside the cornice cove wattyl cosmic blue 76A-1A Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ only the bit in the centre will be coloured, the rest would be the colour of the ceiling (i think, michelle?) Dining Room 3 walls; Wattyl Ermine White 1 feature wall with Taubmans Replenish (deep red) and continue this colour in the cornice cove ceilings, arks, skirts; Main bedroom; 3 walls; Wattyl Ermine White 1 feature wall with Taubmans cobler braun cornice cove in taubmans replenish I am not sure what colour to use for the ceilings, skirts and architraves and the top and bottom of the cornices in both the dining room and main bedroom. is it too much to have the dulux lexicon 1/4 or vivid white in there with the feature walls? i thought it might be! any feedback is very welcomed! thanks everyone. i need to sort this out so i stop dreaming about the names of paints! it's keeping me up at night. Helen Re: Internal Colours for the Maylands Manor! 2Jul 23, 2008 9:25 pm Helen……I haven’t seen a colour combo like this in years!!!!
Your flow colour “Ermine White” is gorgeous! Not much between the lexicon and white, why would you want to do it quarter strength? Its very light. I don’t have the Taubmans colours….of course…..but they sound lovely! Your Blue is stunning! Are you able to show me a profile of the cornice you are using? This all sounds fantastic, I put together the colours I have and I’m impressed already. By the way, get some paint posts, just to be sure. We have cornice profile, sorry Helen. It’s usually best to keep them all the same throughout.
Except where you’re doing the bold statement in the dining room that you can get away with. But having too many changes is not good practice. I would stick with the lexicon, or doing all in the wall colour Ermine White. This will make your other colours stand out better, as it has depth to it. I will take another look later; my head gets a bit fuzzy at this time of night with so many colours to think of. No wounder your not sleeping. When you said you hadn't seen a colour combo like this for years, I wasn't sure if you were thinking this is a good thing or not!!
i am glad you like the ermine white! i think it is a bit different, a sort of greyish, beigish dirty white that isn't too yellow. is that how you would describe it (you probably have much more designy terms!) I really want the contrast of the dirty walls and the white skirts, arks, ceilings and skirts so am leaning more towards lexicon for these bits. Do you think in the rooms with the feature walls (dining room and bedroom) that this will still look o.k? The cabinetry in the hallways, bedrooms and kitchen are white laminex (polar white in the kitchen) so i think this should go o.k with the colours! thanks again, Helen Re: Internal Colours for the Maylands Manor! 6Jul 28, 2008 10:20 am MaylandsManor Thanks so much for your comments michelle! sorry for the delay, we have been in melbourne having the weekend off! But for now, I really like your colour selections!!!! You will find not too many people are doing period style homes these days. So the deep and lovely colour selections throughout homes have been lost! When I first started decorating I was looking to get right into period homes, but in Nowra, they tend to knock them down, there’s only are few that are heritage listed, the rest pretty much get knocked down or get a make-over nothing close to the original design! I passed with flying colours in the Architecture section of my course………just don’t get to use that talent anymore!!! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5369 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7862 3 10151 |
