Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 20, 2008 6:00 pm OK, since I seemed to have stuffed up every other colour decision I have made thus far, I thought I would get some advice before our tile appointment (which shouldn't be too far away)

To go with our kitchen I'm thinking the floor tiles will be a light latte colour something like the large one below (stolen from Miss 81's thread) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Sooo what do I do with the wall tiles. Below are the options I'm considering 1. All wall tiles dark chocolate bricks 2. All wall tiles white bricks with a horizontal feature tile running up side of bath and in the shower (something with small squares that incorporates various shades of brown) 2. All wall tiles the same colour as the floor tiles with the feature tile mentioned above What does everyone think?? Re: Pleeease help me with my bathrooms! 2Jul 20, 2008 6:12 pm Hi Sharee,
You always think you're hopeless at colours. I don't think you are at all!! You seem to have come up with three different looks, all of which will work in my opinion. The first option is a dark, moody look. The second is a light airy look. The third is a more integrated look. I personally like a more integrated look with floor tiles on the walls somewhere. (Ours are on the sides and hobs of the baths.) So I'd probably go for that. What about integrated in the ensuite and light and airy in the main bathroom? But dark and moody might be nice in the ensuite as well. What feel have you preferred in display homes? That might help with your decision. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Pleeease help me with my bathrooms! 3Jul 20, 2008 6:15 pm Sharee, from the pics there is not a lot of wall tiles. I'd keep them the same as the floor (soft latte) and make your vanities a feature - they are very dark and will look lovely, the salad bowl will look great on them.
I'd also go a feature tile like you said. Paula Re: Pleeease help me with my bathrooms! 5Jul 20, 2008 9:58 pm Hey Sharee
I also like the light tiles, but I prefer bathrooms (particularly smaller ones which yours appears to be - so is mine!!) to use light colours to make the space look bigger. Which tile company are you with? We had National Tiles and I got a great light coloured floor tile - Kimberley Lime, I also like the light tile you put up from Miss 81 thread. I agree that your vanitys/basins should be the feature - gorgeous colours there, so keep the floors light, maybe even just a plain white gloss shower/bath wall tile, the light coloured floor tile and a nice feature that brings in some colours from your floor tile (a light brown/tan) but also from you vanity (a deep chocolate) to tie it all together? Good Luck, I just finished my tile selection and a huge weight has been lifted! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Pleeease help me with my bathrooms! 6Jul 21, 2008 1:14 pm Sharee, I am probably not going to be much help, as I've just come back from Beaumont Tiles re-choosing my entire tile selections (will post about it later once I've got over my own shock)
I think Joles has stated it eloquently - you've got 3 different looks to go with - I also prefer the integrated one. It's so easy to give advice on other people's bathrooms ... so hard to choose your own! What are you leaning towards today? Re: Pleeease help me with my bathrooms! 7Jul 21, 2008 3:26 pm Hey guys, thanks for your opinions. Our tiles have to come from Fashion tiles Bel. I think I'm probably leaning towards having tiles the same as the floor and then integrating the colours of the vanity with a feature tile. although I'm still thinking white with a feature tile might work.... Re: Pleeease help me with my bathrooms! 8Jul 21, 2008 3:27 pm I missed this......sorry! Also good for resale value down the track, as it won’t date as fast. GREAT, just what you need…..thinking about re-sale before you even get in! Here is my first point of advice: When you go to select tiles, before choosing ANY tile ask them if they will be available ( in the country) for when they are needed. we have gone through the ring with tiles. They said they would be available but now our SS is forcing us to change the feature tile as they are not in the country yet. And he does not want to wait 7 weeks for them to arrive. seeing our bathrooms are the same I'd go with the floor and wall tiles the same as there isn't much tile anyway This is what the lady suggested, with one thing as a feature. Eg, down the length of the shower, around the bath, in the niche etc... Good Luck! Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7925 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12462 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7149 |
