Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 04, 2016 11:24 am Hi, I've just recently found a nice apartment but the only problem is the space. I'm finding it really hard to know where I should put the tv and couch. I'd also like to fit a small dining table in the room. The current tenant had managed this but the tv was in a corner on an angle which I didn't really like and they had a round sofa. I'd like to put the tv in front of the window as the courtyard outside is closed off so not too much light gets in. I'm also renting so can't do anything that will impact the structure of the apartment. Ideas are appreciated! Here are some photos: This is my current plan: Let me know if anyone has done anything similar or if you think it would work ok. Thanks Re: TV in front of window? 2Jan 04, 2016 12:21 pm I have a view I did not want to ruin with a TV so this was my solution to mount 55 inch TV http://i1321.photobucket.com/albums/u559/brankom10/IMG_2476%201_zpssajjbteh.jpg Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog Re: TV in front of window? 4Jan 04, 2016 3:55 pm twin_dad That looks nice, howevar OP mentioned he is rentung so can't fix to wall / roof. Using my LG-G4 to bring you this update. Not without owners permission but what is to stop him from asking if he can mount a bracket. You never know your luck. Is that wall not long enough? Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 Re: TV in front of window? 6Jan 05, 2016 6:28 am Could you have it on a "wheeled" buffet type thingo. How often do you watch TV ? Just wheel it into position when you need it - otherwise slide it into the corner. Re: TV in front of window? 7Jan 05, 2016 8:53 am Unfortunately i don't think there is enough room to put the tv against that solid wall and the sofa opposite. I think the sofa would be too close to the tv and there would be a very narrow walkway to move around behind it. It's tough! I can't mount the tv either as I'm renting. The current tenant had the tv in the corner of the main wall and the courtyard window. So I figured maybe it will be ok to just put the tv in front of that window as not a lot of direct light gets in and there are blind which block out the light. Here are some ideas that I'm going from: http://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/2830052/s ... ther-metro http://www.houzz.com.au/photos/3206796/ ... m-dc-metro Re: TV in front of window? 8Jan 06, 2016 8:21 am I got some measurements yesterday which was good but I think the room is too narrow (325 cm) to sit comfortably from the tv (if it were on the main wall). If I did it that way I'd be too close to the tv for my liking and there would only be a very narrow walkway behind the couch. The window is looking like my best option at the moment. These are the kind of blinds they have (not an actual photo): http://www.wynstan.com.au/assets/images ... inds1.jpeg So I could just keep the 2 left blinds down while using the tv I guess. I think it's my best option. Re: TV in front of window? 9Jan 06, 2016 11:58 am Smaller TV? I guess not. Not much light comes in but if you block it the room will be very dark. I like Saint Mike's idea. Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 Re: TV in front of window? 10Jan 06, 2016 7:38 pm If that is the non sliding door then no problem. I've seen many similar setups with plants or furniture. It's a very large window light will find its way in. Definitely don't put the TV on the wall where the bookcase is marked. The outside light will interfere with viewing those dark scenes films. Cheers Re: TV in front of window? 11Jan 06, 2016 11:11 pm Thanks for the suggestions everyone. If I put the tv in front of the window I would pull the blinds down only when it was being used. It's a west facing window so direct light only comes through at the end of the day. We also usually only watch tv in the evenings so glare shouldn't be a major issue. Worth trying out I figure. The wheeled shelf is a good idea too. Will wait and see!
