Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 19, 2008 11:34 am We are at the stage of looking at colours and while the interior appointment is a while away I am a bit of a stresshead and have been looking at colours for a while.
Here is what we have so far: Kitchen This is the set up: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Benchtops - quantum quartz new diamond white Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Splashback - glass mocha magic (I don't have a pic of this but we are arguing over it, I like light splashbacks and neutral colours and my OH likes bright colours) I would prefer a lighter cream one. We'll see . lower cupboards - formica chocolate pear or laminex nocturne oak Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Upper cupboards - formica warm white Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I am playing with the idea at the moment of having the lower cupboard at the rear white as well, but i'm not sure if it would be too white with the benchtop? Laundry Comes off the kitchen so we would be sticking to the same as what we use in the kitchen, but using laminex platinum micro rather than the stone benchtop: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathrooms Still thinking, but maybe a lighter wood for the cupboards and benchtops, like: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Walls All neutral, something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Exterior Bricks - Brushwood. We did have Old Maple but they have discontinued them so we had to pick another, which is not up on the site yet so I can't get a pic. From memory it was similar to the one we picked before, which is this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Render - Dune Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Garage - paperbark Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Roof - charcoal gray striata Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think thats all. Windows at the front are timber, throughout the house will be paperbark. I haven't even thought about the front door. I really really like this kitchen: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ so I am hoping ours will look something like that. Any feedback very welcome! Re: Help with colours 2Jul 19, 2008 11:46 am Hi Gumboots,
I'm going by my screen, obviously I don't have samples. My screen may well not be showing the colours properly, so this may not apply. But by my screen, the kitchen bench and especially the laundry bench seem to show a bit of grey. You said you wanted a cream splashback and a creamy wall colour. I'd be really careful of mixing grey, creams and whites. It could all end up looking really murky. If you like a cream colour I'd go for more a light taupe colour than a yellow based cream if you've got any grey. Like I said, going by my screen colours, they may be off, and Michelle may well say I'm speaking rubbish anyway! But if your benchtops aren't grey, all looks good to me! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Jo Hi Jo, You might just be right, on the screen the bench does look grey, but in my booklet it looks different, not so grey but not not grey either - if that makes sense? I don't have a great sense of colour (hence why I posted ) so hopefully Michelle will be able to identify from swatches whether you are right. The platinum micro looks nothing on my screen like on the swatch though This is a similar benchtop choice, but looks to be more beigey colour than the other one: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Otherwise, we could always go the darker splashback instead of cream colour... maybe that would help with non murkiness. Thanks for the input, another thing to muse over Re: Help with colours 4Jul 19, 2008 12:24 pm If you look back through some of the bathroom posts you will see our bathroom. It has nocturne oak and c'stone snow - might give you an idea of what it looks like. I love the nocturne oak. We also have it in our laundry with a kasmir granite gloss laminate and it looks stunning. Re: Help with colours 5Jul 19, 2008 2:08 pm I think your colours are nice - I'd personally go with a dark splashback to give it some omph - dark lower cupboards, dark splashback, light bench and light upper cupboards.
Just my 2 cents worth. Paula Re: Help with colours 6Jul 22, 2008 6:50 pm Thanks mudtrilogy, your bathroom is gorgeous and that is just the look I am going for with the kitchen - I think the ceaserstone to QQ is quite comparable too.
Paula, that is what we originally picked but having all this time to think about it has been bad for us, I keep coming up with lots of 'maybe's'!
