Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 28, 2015 4:32 pm We are currently in the process of designing our forever home but I'm needing some help with creating the perfect dining and family room space. The kids will have a separate rumpus this the family is more for hubby and I to watch TV and have coffee indoors with friends and family. I'm free to do whatever we want with doors, the ceiling and fire place. My only restriction will be the western (right side) wall of the family room. The windows will be minimal on this side to block out the hot western afternoon sun. It will either be a vertical strip window/s or a horizontal strip window higher up. Either way it will be fairly small and mainly for cross ventilation. We originally thought a dual side fireplace between the dining and family room with a raked ceiling and skylights above the dining. I'm not sure if that will restrict furniture options in the family room or close it off too much. Another option is to have the fireplace on the external wall between the dining and family with bifold doors either side and a gable end raked ceiling looking out over the views. We will be having a covered deck off the kitchen either way. We have expansive views off the rear. Any help is greatly appreciated. http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx17 ... mended.jpg Re: Please help design my dining and family room 2Sep 28, 2015 7:09 pm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Hi everyone, Newbie renovator here, after some advice for combining our family room in the picture and the alfresco and make a larger family room.
