Hi Michelle and everybody else,
I'm a little bit upset that my carpet and tiles don't want to get along. My mid grey/touch of taupe Norman Ellison carpet looks dirty brown-ish grey against my charcoal tile.
The carpet away from the tile looks really nice but together blah!!
It's really hard to get a carpet to match unless I go really, really dark or really, really light both of which are a no go for me. It'll always look dirty either way. I want a mid tone and it is impossible.
In the house there is only one place there is an issue. There is a long hallway past a double garage and the sitting room out to the main living area and kitchen. This will all be tiled. The sitting room will be carpet. It is becoming a library/study and will have double doors so is not a really open room. This is the only area that the carpet and tile meet in a highly visible area. The only other place the tiles and carpet meet is from the tiled hallway to bedrooms and the hallway goes into the playroom that is also carpet. But this is a tucked away area, no traffic.
So the primary issue is the library. I was thinking I could use artwork and/or accessories either in the hallway or in the rooom itself that ties the carpet and tile colours together, possibly with another colour like, say, burnt orange . I tought this would trick the eye into thinking the carpet and tile complement each other.
Is this possible?
Will it work?
Am I crazy?
I love my carpet and my tile and I just want them to be friends.
Jo
