Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: The dreaded splashback question 41Jul 14, 2008 9:37 pm it's also the same kitchen on number 33, 41 but the 42 pic looks the easiest to judge the colour on. Re: The dreaded splashback question 42Jul 14, 2008 10:01 pm Jo K Mrs B - your timber floor list is getting longer - I thought you had decided on Blackbutt?? JO So did I until Mr B told me on Sat night that he really didnt like blutbutt and I went for a dull boring colour Well, was I not impressed so the whole decision on the colour of our floors starts again even though I told my builder on Sat blackbutt it is. Mrs B Re: The dreaded splashback question 43Jul 14, 2008 10:44 pm haywgl Dy I might have found a good colour for you...I was stalking the M'con website for colours and such and I came across a nice coloured splashback that has been used on the Tribeca... http://www.*****.com.au/victoria/homes/ ... fault.aspx It is the last pic, Picture 42, and it is used in a kitchen with dark cupboards....you might need to have it a touch darker, but it is that sort of silvery/blue shade.... Bel Thats almost exactly what we are looking for. Do you think they would tell me what it is if I rang and asked? TYVM . Mrs B, don't worry we selected spottted gum about 9 months ago and I'm having second thoughts as I'd prefer brushbox . Lucky for DH the spotted gum is on the truck from WA or I'd be changing my mind again . Re: The dreaded splashback question 45Jul 14, 2008 10:52 pm thanks Sharee
Your two cents is well appreciated . It's probably all I'll have to rub together once this build is finished. DH showed his colleagues the thread at work today and everyone voted for silver. Definitely looks good in the link posted by haywgl. Spotted gum has quite a bit of grey in it as well so it should work together. edit: unless the truck breaks down and I get to change to brushbox Re: The dreaded splashback question 46Jul 14, 2008 11:44 pm No problems Dy, I think it looks great too
I know Metricon have a few Tribecas on display, Joles from this forum is a guru and could probably tell you which display it is located at. You could then just call them at the display and say you were in on the weekend looking at thier displays and you like the splashback colour and did they have a name for it....I did something similar with the Henley displays and they were very helpful and got me the name Good Luck, alternatively someone building with M could probably find out for you My karma ran over your dogma Re: The dreaded splashback question 48Jul 15, 2008 2:01 pm Bel and Dy,
That Tribeca display must have closed down if the name doesn't come up. I'm not familiar with it. They change paint companies so often don't even know what company it would be. Bel, you only stalk the M website, I actually stalk the displays. Just to confuse you further Dy, I'd go for metallic silver grey for a bit of drama. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: The dreaded splashback question 50Jul 15, 2008 6:22 pm thanks again.
We have to decide on the colour by Saturday as we are meeting the splashback/benchtop guy at the house so he can start work on both. I'll try and sort it out tomorrow. Re: The dreaded splashback question 51Jul 16, 2008 5:08 pm I followed up the splashback from the link posted by Bel.
It's a taubman's colour called 'stainless steel' on clear glass . Re: The dreaded splashback question 52Jul 16, 2008 5:10 pm Good work Dy!!
Were they pretty good with giving up the name? I founded Henley to be surprisingly helpful Sounds like a great name!! Do you think you might use it? Or keep looking? My karma ran over your dogma Re: The dreaded splashback question 53Jul 17, 2008 12:06 am Hi Bel
M3tricon were very nice and tried to be as helpful as possible. They couldn't remember if it was Dulux or Taubmans colour. Taubmans carry the name but it is blue so it can't be the right colour. Dulux have some silver coloured paint in their metallic range that I'll be checking out tomorrow. Moon marvel, pluto pulse and silver spoon. I'll probably do what Jo did and buy some more testers . Hope we have clear glass in our spec. Re: The dreaded splashback question 54Aug 26, 2008 9:31 pm We've traversed the splashback/benchtop mire and gone a full circle (like just about everything in our build ). In the process we have learned that you can get almost any colour in a splashback, not just the Dulux Aust. standard range.
Our glass guru has shown us some beautiful coloured glass ... there was literally several hundred different colours in his box of tricks. All very confusing. Best advice I can give anyone is definitely, positively ... wait until your benchtops are in, as we had a completely different perspective once we saw the benchtops and cupboards together. For one thing the light is different in every house and it is very hard to guesstimate what the final products will look like. We've left the splash until last and have to decide TONIGHT on silver, red or black. Here are some pics. Benchtops are 30mm black granite. Re: The dreaded splashback question 56Aug 26, 2008 9:53 pm Nor mine....Dy!!
Dy!! Come back!! Dont keep us hanging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: The dreaded splashback question 58Aug 26, 2008 10:02 pm Coming ... dial up .. its as slow as a wet week . Sorry if they are blurry ... definitely no editing tonight lol. Would you believe the camera just went flat ... DH is in the car recharging the camera battery.
