Re: dark furniture and white wood shutters/venetians???? 3Jul 02, 2008 8:58 pm If you have a look at my bathroom pic from a few days ago - the cabinet is quite dark and we have white shutters. Personally I think it looks classy. We almost went for timber shutters in our bedroom but that can make rooms look dark esp. with timber furniture.
Good Luck Re: dark furniture and white wood shutters/venetians???? 4Jul 02, 2008 9:13 pm i am thinking the similar combination but the other way around.. white furniture and dark shutters/curtains... (i am thinking dark brown)

White shutters are gorgeous with dark furniture, and shutters are usually recommended to be the same colour as your walls. I also like dark roller blinds against white walls so I must have a contrast fetish . From memory didn't Matt put dark coloured roman blinds in his house? Re: dark furniture and white wood shutters/venetians???? 7Jul 04, 2008 11:29 am thanks everyone for your replies!
walls are 1/2 strength hog bristile deeelle what colour window coverings are you having, we have the same carpet and I think you have 1/4 hog bristile? are you having an office desk at all on the carpet? carpet looks look top one slightly darker maybe(thanks for pic) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Im stumped really on desk, laminate looks a little fake to me is it worth the cost to go to veneer? should the desk match or contrast to the carpet arghhhhhhh Re: dark furniture and white wood shutters/venetians???? 8Jul 04, 2008 7:40 pm bec Im stumped really on desk, laminate looks a little fake to me is it worth the cost to go to veneer? should the desk match or contrast to the carpet arghhhhhhh Hi Bec, we changed our carpet to Quest Dewsberry French toast. I think I put a pic up on our blog. But our study will have wooden floors. Window coverings .. we are having a mix of roller blinds and panel glides in a fabric called Chi (I think thats how you spell it). Yep we have 1/4 strength HB; although we went to the house yesterday and saw they were painting a completely different colour throughout ... 3 shades darker . It had better be changed to the right selection next week . I'm a bit stumped about the study desk myself. We don't have a door on our study and walk past it on the way to the kitchen. Not sure if veneer is the right choice for us. We might do the Amerind laminate ... same as the kitchen ... for flow through effect as the rooms are directly next to one another. I did see a long wooden desk at Ikea which you can paint so thats another option. We could paint it the same colour as the kitchen cupboards. It's a bit like a long bench which would suit the study which is long and narrow 3.6 x 2.5m. Dunno Bec. I'm at a loss with the study too ???
