Relevant colours are as follows: Roof & gutters: Surfmist Fascia: Monument Garage door: Caoba Dawn Front door: Jarrah stain to match jarrah glosswood ceiling Problem 1: The main problem is that I've asked for my gable to be Monument, thinking that it would be one solid block of colour. I've since found out that due to the surfmist roof, the barge capping will also be surfmist and will overlap the gable a bit, resulting in what I call a "two-toned" look, which I really didn't want. For example: Actually that house looks quite nice, but I'm worried that the 2-tone look gable will look silly on mine. Here is a render of my facade colours: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Do I change the colour to something other than monument? Or put up with a 2-tone look? Or am I worrying about nothing? Problem 2: We originally had a caoba dawn garage specced but have since decided we didn't want a timber-look door, so I've randomly picked shale grey. Thoughts? Problem 3: Apparently we can't have the timber stain we wanted on our front door either, so we either have to paint it or fork out money for another door. Neither prospect fills us with joy. But we'll probably end up painting it. Any ideas on colours? Thanks! Move in - then get up there and paint out the Surfmist capping in Monument. It hadn't occurred to me to paint up the ridge capping afterwards The render is Dieskau, as you suggested. Although, there's still time to change I guess! I'd build it as see how it looks, and then as Michelle says you can always paint over it after you see the effect. That black will really stand out amongst all the white, so you may not want it all that thick anyhow. True, probably best to see how it goes Re: Unforseen problems with exterior colours 7May 23, 2015 11:30 am trixee So I was fairly sorted with my exterior colours, but have come across a couple of technicalities that have thrown a spanner in the works. Is it that the tender is monument and there is a little bit of barge that's surf most as in that photo I can't quite see ( could be blind). I think the photo looks nice! Don't forget you can paint your surfmist barge boards monument later if you don't like them. Garage door. We have shale grey roof and surfmist door and I think it looks lovely. Therefore I think the door will look nice. Or get a surfmist door. Front door. We paid extra to upgrade to stain quality door and frame. The frame has been really affected by plaster etc so I've told the builder I'm not accepting it as is (onus was on us to stain given its not standard). They have agreed to sand it back ready for staining. Re: Unforseen problems with exterior colours 8May 23, 2015 5:39 pm Ok.... still happy with Dulux Dieskau as your render colour. Paint the front door Monument. Happy with your Shale Grey garage door...... Boy.... they really gave you the run around. I hope your internals are ok.
