Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Render colour advice 41May 29, 2015 12:21 pm Ah, I'm not knowledgeable with paint colours.. I'm just a more technical person who's had occasion to interpret the RGB colour codes that Dulux supply for their paint colours. I was trying to match up paint colours for our house, and ended up writing some software to search through the paint codes to find matches for colours. So my advice isn't based on having good colour sense so much as being able to compare between them. Shattell and Clay Dust are both a very close match to a darkened Warm Neutral. They are both slightly lighter than Gnu Tan, and less yellow/more red. Clay Dust Is very similar to Shattell, but slightly darker and greyer. I'm a bit worried that you like Parador Inn, but not Time Capsule, because they should be very similar. They are both a bit greyer than Shattell/Clay Dust. Parador Inn is also a bit redder and less yellow. Among the lighter set of colours I think you should be fine with Warm Neutral. From the photos I'd consider going a bit greyer with Camel Train / Tapestry Beige / Puppy, but given that you've painted the Warm Neutral and like it in real life, I'd say Warm Neutral would be the way to go. There won't be a lot of difference between them anyhow. Going darker, I think the best match is in Time Capsule or Parador Inn. I think the more saturated colours: Shattell, Clay Dust and Gnu Tan could come out a bit too strong in colour. I think you're better off going with the warm neutral to keep a clean contrasty look against the brick. I maybe biased on that though, because generally I'm not so keen on large areas of render any darker than around that Warm Neutral / Dune / Paperbark level. To integrate it in, you could perhaps consider a feature that you paint in a dark colour, getting closer to the bricks, like [P15B7] Harold, or colorbond Jasper. Re: Render colour advice 42May 30, 2015 7:19 pm I've used Warm Neutral many times in may applications, its an all round Neutral colour. You are right oneJohn it is very similar to Parador Inn, once again the computer screen is so tricky I didn't think I liked this colour but luckily my husband picked up both the sample pots after another trip to the Dulux store. We prefer Time Capsule over the Parador Inn, I guess it is the redness you mentioned that we can see in the difference between the 2. Time capsule seems to be the perfect brown/grey we were after, as much as I love Warm Neutral we decided darker would be better especially for a second storey that gets a lot of sun. Here's a pic of Time Capsule painted on a board, once again the photo is a bit washed out as it does look darker than this, but it still contrasts really well with Woodland Grey and matches the mortar in our bricks really well. I have a dilemma - we have chosen Colorbond dune roof, dune front door and garage door. I love the look of dune render but I don't think using dune render when everything is dune is a good idea. Can you suggest a render colour which would go nicely with the above dune parts of the house? My biggest regret is not doing surfmist roof, front and garage door as I love this look, and I we did surf mist I would've done dune render. So now we are looking for options! Please help!
