Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 27, 2015 2:46 pm Hi, I've seen a few topics about this so thought I would ask for some colour advice as well, Michelle seems to be very helpful! We are completing an extension for a double storey and will have render with colorbond roof, gutters etc. Our downstairs is a light-mid brown brick. (no red/orange undertones more towards beige/fawn ) hope I'm describing this clearly!! Colorbond roof will be Woodland Grey. Gutters, downpipes, fascias - Woodland Grey Render - Dune ?? We went to Dulux store and was informed the most popular colour for render is Dune (my area anyway) that you see on houses, I've noticed there seems to be a fairly common render colour on most houses. The sales guy thought this would be the best match for our home with Woodland Grey and our brick colour (we took a brick in to show him). Sorry I don't know how to copy a photo in here. But I've read some other colours on this forum and wondered if I am missing a better colour match, would Dune be ok or possibly too dark for Woodland Grey? Can someone, or Michelle, suggest any other colours. Thanks Re: Render colour advice 3May 05, 2015 8:00 pm Check this topic out..... In going a bit warmer, it may be an easier match. Hog Bristle is a fairly common render colour, which presnts less as a grey, and should work with woodland. from http://professional-plastering-perth.co ... olours.php this is Dulux Hog Bristle. Our brick colour is more brown than your first photo, in saying that it is a good pic of Dune which is fairly light I thought it was darker than that. I better get a sample pot and try it out. Re: Render colour advice 7May 05, 2015 9:06 pm Michelle Hog Bristle has a yellow base. I'm NOT a fan of greys and yellows together unless its in a nursery. Thanks Michelle yes it is too yellow for our bricks, can you suggest a shade slightly darker and warmer than Dune? I'll also try and post a pic of my bricks. Re: Render colour advice 8May 05, 2015 9:09 pm Even a link to the brick will help me.... Looked at your suggestions Michelle, Mud Puddle looks too grey, similar to Dune 1.5 strength, which we don't think will suit. Our local paint shop consultant suggested Barnfloor or Kahlua milk. I have included a photo of our samples of Barnfloor and Warm Neutral (possibly too light/pinkish) Michelle if you read this do you think is Barnfloor is to dark / green? I don't want a khaki looking house!! How much does the colour differ from painting a sample to the actual render? Barn floor (left) Warm Neutral (right) Should I try Kahlua Milk will it be somewhere in between these ? Thanks Re: Render colour advice 16May 13, 2015 12:10 am I tried colour balancing your picture to calibrate them to the dulux web colour codes. So is this still realistic? Re: Render colour advice 17May 13, 2015 4:03 pm Wow oneJohn, that's fantastic thankyou I've looked at all the colours on my phone and computer to see the difference and think Mud Puddle (as per Michelle's original suggestion) looks pretty good. Picked up a sample pot so I'll repost once we paint it on the boards. The barnfloor looks a bit better in the sunlight, but I still think it's a bit too dark and greenish for my taste. I was thinking of Gnu Tan so glad you included that photo, I feel it's a bit too orangey/warm or something!! Our Woodland Grey windows are going in tomorrow so I might put a photo up of them which will help match the colours better. If I could call on your help again oneJohn to photoshop another colour once I have the windows in? Re: Render colour advice 18May 14, 2015 10:32 pm oneJohn excellent....this is why sample pots are needed. I looked at the original colours and nearly had a melt down knowing how off they were to the real thing. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Render colour advice 19May 15, 2015 12:48 pm So Michelle are you saying these colors are not very accurate ?
This is the second floor we have to render, we painted the mudpuddle today and it still looks a bit dark, actually it's almost the same as Dune 1.5 strength. I'll post a pic in daylight tomorrow when it will be dry and more accurate? If too dark would Dreyfus be a lighter version, it must be fairly similar to Dune would you say, or not really? Also, what do you think of Warm Neutral, I still really like the colour we painted on a sample board. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Render colour advice 20May 16, 2015 9:13 am From this to this.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Is different. I don't mind the the Warm Neutral, it will depend on the texture of the paint you use on the render as to how the paint will look.
