Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 10, 2015 8:25 pm I need some style advice with my dining setting. I'm set on having a steel framed dining table with a Caesarstone top with replica Emeco Navy chairs. The table top will be Walnut to match the kitchen bench tops. My choices for the table frame and chairs are a brushed stainless/aluminium look or black powdercoat. Up until today I thought that the stainless look would be best (we have stainless kicks in the kitchen and stainless fridge/dishwasher/rangehood + door handles). The table will come out from the far wall in this picture: http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p556/Matthew_Medlin/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-04/F5670864-BC1C-4958-88A4-5FDDC35287FF.jpg To the left of the table will be a medium dark wood buffet (which we already have). Today I started thinking that perhaps having the frame and chairs powdercoated black would go better with the timber buffet instead of stainless. Here's the kitchen: http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p556/Matthew_Medlin/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-03/B74CB817-9530-4EAB-B6E5-F117B5D35C4E.jpg What's the verdict? Re: Help with Dining setting 2Apr 10, 2015 10:55 pm Not a fan of the chairs but I don't have to live with them . If it were me I would go with stainless look. After all you are paying for stainless so may as well show it. If you are going powder coat just use normal steel as it will be more than strong enough and will be powdercoated so no rust issues. Another route you may wish to go is a wood base that way you can move the legs in so that you can sit all the way around the table. It will also soften the look as well. http://www.nickscali.com.au/dining/ A couple of these tables have concrete tops which I presume could be stained to match your kitchen tops. The will also work out a lot cheaper than a custom ceaserstone table. Good luck. Re: Help with Dining setting 3Apr 11, 2015 5:04 am I seriously think either way will work. Are you putting a rug under the table? The black will be heavy (moreso if you added black chairs) it'll draw the eye down to the floor area. That's what I'm thinking too Re: Help with Dining setting 8Apr 12, 2015 7:33 am Firstly, LOVE the paint colour! It's really beautiful! I would stick with brushed Alloy if you go dark you will lose the effect of the beautiful stone top. You'll be drawn below to the black and the top will be lost! Are you putting a rug under the table? Wasn't planning on having a rug. With 5 young kids it would be putrid in no time!
