Long time fan here but very rare poster! Would love some feedback on a grey paint query.
We are going to renovate an 80's home/kitchen (currently there's beige EVERYTHING) and are going for a Shaker-style kitchen (I know everyone is doing it but we've done it before and know our tastes). Given that I have two cattle dogs AND a new baby and an aspiring amateur chef husband who manages to get everything filthy - I'm thinking of a two-tone kitchen with either Dulux Flooded Gum base cabinets or Dulux Stepney (in an effort to combat obvious dirt), with lighter/white wall cabinets.
My issue is that if we go with full strength Flooded Gum for the base cabinets I'll likely go with either 3/4 or 1/2 strength Dieskau as the wall paint (with Solver Designer White ceilings/cornices). Personally though, I prefer the more 'true' grey colour of Stepney for the cabinets. The problem is that I'm not sure which lighter grey colour would work for the walls if we go with Stepney. I can't go too light/white as the painter has said that I won't get the coverage (with two coats) of the beige if I do, and already the paint job is about $15k!
Any thoughts? I've been combing the RGB info of just about all of Dulux's greys and its just about done my head in!
I'd get a Dulux consultant in but we aren't in the property until June and with the new baby it's just not realistic for me to spend an hour or two walking through the house with one
