Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 16, 2008 9:41 pm Hello,
We are building a new house and I was after a bit of advice regarding colours for my kitchen and bathroom. I was looking at possibly having postformed Laminex Platinum Micro (benchtop) and Formica Iron Ore (cupboards) for the kitchen.... bu this is very flexible. I am really stuck on the bathroom and ensuite. I was something fairly safe that I'm not going to hate in a few years. It's our first home so Formica and Laminex are the only options available (no stone, squareform or diamondgloss). Any suggestions? I'd like a fairly similar colour scheme throughout the house. Do you have a wall colour yet? We are building in WA, so floors, window coverings and painting will be done by us once we move in. I was looking at something fairy neutral throughout the whole house, possibly Wattyl Kid Leather kind of colour (can't find image to cut and paste!). Re: Laminate colours for kitchen and bathroom 5Jun 16, 2008 10:04 pm No you won’t with Wattyl, they don’t allow you to take the colour off their site.
Very frustrating! Kid leather is a nice colour, so you’re leaning to the neutral warm tones throughout your home? I want colours that feel calm and cosy. I am having trouble trying to blend a colour 'theme' throughout the house through. We seem to leaning towards grey tones, rather than beiges and choc brown (which is all I see in display homes). But I don't want it to be too grey... which I think is a bit too cool, rather than warm.
This building a house business is hard work! Re: Laminate colours for kitchen and bathroom 7Jun 16, 2008 10:13 pm Grey is a very tricky colour, unless you know how to work with it you could end up with a cold house.
Matrix…you need some help, I’m off to bed now, but I will try and remember you tomorrow. There must be something in my forum to help you. Have a poke around in there and see what you can find. If I forget about you, just remind me. I still have a few weeks before prestart, so we've only just begun! I'll have a poke around and see what I can come up with.
