Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 15, 2008 12:59 pm Hi everyone,
This is my 4th attempt at typing this without my stupid computer freezing up!!! Grr We are renovating, and currently have a Jasper garage door, and trying desperately to figure out colours for render and roof. So have driven around the neighbourhood taking many a photo, and have a few favourites. Trouble is we don't know what colours they are! So if anyone has any idea of what colours they are, or something that will give a similar effect, please share! Sorry some of the pics have annoying shadows. House #1 Roof: ? Not sure if I love any of them though, sigh. Michelle also suggested Dulux Warm Neutral which I will go and try. We are going to have a rainbow house at this rate! So, any thoughts or ideas are warmly welcomed! Thanks so much! Everyone's opinions on this board are very much appreciated. you could leave a letter in their mailbox saying how much you love their mainhouse colour and if they were willing to tell you what it is some people will some wont though Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 3Jun 15, 2008 1:21 pm House #3 main render looks like it could be Dune.
We painted up about 15 colour boards before we decided on the main render colour, and even then the painters made a mistake and painted Dune when we asked for d/s Dune. Once it is all up you learn to love it (unless you are way off mark) so my advice is don't spend too much time picking colours ... and definitely don't change your mind <says she who changes her mind with the wind> . Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 4Jun 15, 2008 1:40 pm Honeyfly…the Dulux Ecru is too light and yellowy.
I like either the CB Dune, or the Dulux Pale Parchment. Way to go with your prep work for sorting the correct colours….right down to a pretend roof, excellent! Did you do 2 coats of the colours on your walls? House #1 Roof: could be CB Windspray. It’s hard to tell from a photo, it doesn’t look like dune. It’s also very hard to tell what the main renders are on 2 the house. There’s just too many colours go through to even try and come close. House #3 Again the roof looks Windspray. Michelle we only did 1 coat as we didn't realise how small an area it would paint on the render! Sample pots aren't very large for painting thirsty render DeeElle, I think you're right, I'm sure it will look much better on a larger scale and I will look back and laugh at how pedantic I was. Hmmm, will maybe drop some letters in their letterboxes if nobody about Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 6Jun 15, 2008 8:24 pm Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 7Jun 15, 2008 9:08 pm Dee Elle Those 2 colours look great together. Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 8Jun 15, 2008 10:09 pm Hi kexkez
I agree they go together very well. We asked their painter . And the roof is shale grey. Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 9Jun 16, 2008 11:44 am DeeElle you're the best! Thanks so much for posting those photos!
I'm going to have a look at that one, must get a paint sample!! That's exactly what I need, a nice photo with the names of all the paint. Thanks so much!!! Re: Colour Detectives: Any ideas what colours these could be??? 10Jun 16, 2008 11:54 am DeeElle - I had a look at your house on your blog, looks fantastic!!!!! Also love your colours, I see you have used Dune for your render, do you mine if I ask what else are you using with it?
How exciting for you, bet you can't wait for it to be finished! Sorry Honeyfly I just saw your post. We used Dune for the main render, Jasper for the balcony feature and Murray Red for the porch. All Dulux. Roof, roller door and front door are CB Dune. Pavers are 500 x 500 charcoal. I'm happy with our colours as well. Have a think about using double strength Dune. Its gorgeous. Natural stone is more of a mocha colour ... in the brown tones Dune is silver grey - a lovely light reflective colour We changed our kitchen colours to match once we saw the finished render. And better yet ... not many ppl in our development have used Dune on their render so it's a bit different , Building Standards; Getting It Right!
