We have tentatively selected Dulux Whisper White for all internal paintwork. Our living area has a cathedral ceiling and I'm hoping that using the same paint colour throughout will enhance the feeling of extra height and space (ditto in the rooms with regular 2.4 ceilings). My main concerns are that as the Whisper White seems to be quite a 'white' white it might feel cold, or it might make the rooms glare-y when there's a lot of sunlight. Any thoughts? Should we go for a slightly darker or warmer white? We are also completely lost as to whether we should pick a dark or a light kitchen benchtop: e.g. Something like this Laminex Lunar Stone: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ or something like this Laminex Roman Marble: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ? Will dark make the kitchen look small and be too strong a contrast to the white, or will it provide a good contrast? Help! In case it's relevant, our main furniture pieces are antique chinese timber pieces, so are in dark red-brown wood. Any help will be muchly appreciated Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 2Jun 14, 2008 4:56 pm I think just to be on the safe side the Laminex Lunar Stone might be the way to go.
It’s hard to give a firm answer since I don’t know your flooring, plus you have dark furniture, so I think Lunar Stone will help blend in with everything else. BUT, if you are looking for a very bold statement, the Roman Marble will do that for you. That gives us some stuff to think about The living area floor covering will probably be ceramic tiles in a light to mid brown.
Any thoughts on the paint choice dilemma? Beautiful in fact. I'd go black. Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 5Jun 14, 2008 8:08 pm My bench top is Laminex Lunar Stone, I really like it and several people have commented on how nice it looks and different to what most people are doing at the moment.
This picture is probably not the best representation but might give you a bit of an idea of what it looks like Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 6Jun 14, 2008 8:10 pm DeeElle VERY nice carpet. Beautiful in fact. I'd go black. Well I like the Lunar Stone, but given that there's going to be a lot of white, I think I would also go for the black and be bold. Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 9Jun 15, 2008 2:00 pm Archaeobabe, after looking at your flooring selections, I would lean to the black also.
Although I must say here, I have a very deep grey on my benchtops, 1 or 2 shades off black. It’s the worst thing I have done! Although ascetically they look great, I just can’t stand the marks I can see on it all the time. And being a flat surface, you really do see it all. As for your paint dilemma, Whisper White has a touch of yellow in it, and is not white. In fact I think it is a great colour for walls. Beautiful in fact. Thanks DeeElle! We really like it- we have expensive taste though! It's Tuftmaster 'Romany', 100% wool and low VOC. That's a lot of votes for being brave and going black! I think that one of the local kitchen places has the Roman Marble in a display kitchen at the moment, so we'll go have a look during the week. We will stick with that then Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 11Jun 15, 2008 5:41 pm What about hogs bristle for the walls - lurve it Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 12Jun 15, 2008 6:32 pm I looked at hogs bristle- it' s lovely! Decided against it because it didn't seem 'right' with the other colour samples, plus my work is about to repaint my office in hogs bristle, and I don't want my house to feel like work! Re: Internal Paint colour advice needed 13Jun 15, 2008 6:34 pm What about Ecuru (not sure if correct sp)
A girlfriend has this and it looks great Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7143 |
