I would also consider wallpapering the long wall with a paper that has some form of pattern running floor to ceiling to make it feel a little taller and wider. This might not be your cup of tea but you can see how the paper and coloured wall make it feel wider and not a corridor as such. http://blog.surfacetiles.com/wp-content ... Re: Long narrow entry hallway.. feels lifeless! 11Nov 02, 2014 8:45 pm Wow Melsie the kids can have races sown that hallway. Re: Long narrow entry hallway.. feels lifeless! 12Nov 02, 2014 8:46 pm a lovely feature wall of block colour, or patterned wallpaper - i agree this would look great Re: Long narrow entry hallway.. feels lifeless! 14Nov 06, 2014 6:10 pm My first reaction was one large or a couple of slightly smaller pendant lights.... as PP said, will break up the 'line'. Re: Long narrow entry hallway.. feels lifeless! 16Nov 10, 2014 12:48 pm 1m is way too narrow in my opinion. It will look like a tunnel like our old existing place does at the moment. Mind you having a wider hallway comes at a cost to the room widths that are off it. We did think it could be a waste of space and maybe the space could be used in the bedrooms .but the bedrooms for use are only to sleep in with a few cuddling toys and books .I have built a 9m long games room for kids to play in . plus the hallway is 19m long and I think having it not wide enough could end up looking like a tunnel. Mt old house had 1m wide hallway . and it was fine as it was not very long Re: Long narrow entry hallway.. feels lifeless! 19Nov 12, 2014 1:06 am Besides what has already been suggested, if you have the room, maybe consider buying a narrow console table (or even floating shelves), hang a mirror if more light is needed; put a tall narrow vase or urn in the corner and/or near the front door, add a hat/coat rack near the front door... I like the little table things .but I can imagine kids knockin g them down . but a good idea . I need one of those hooks in my carport for school bags . also love the idea of that floating shelf . What? It's a lighting question, the control joint is only needed at 12m centres, a bulkhead or change of direction will suffice as a 'break' in the ceiling, just make… 8 5867 Might cheaper to changer your idea of what makes a home, have you considered building a porch? 2 49341 at most it will have a short lintel which could be moved up just below the ceiling or even above.
