Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 07, 2014 3:27 pm Hi everyone- I haven't posted here for a long time, but would love some help! I'm in the process of changing my 'French Provincial' open plan living/dining/kitchen into something lighter, brighter and more modern. I've removed my dark damask wallpaper and other remnants of the old style and added some pops of colour. I have some white curtains to hang in the dining room and a flat woven beige rug for the lounge. The next obvious thing is a repaint - does anyone have suggestions for a suitable 'white' ? Also toying with the idea of a bright aqua feature wall? I'd also love some ideas on new side tables and lamps and a new dining pendant? Thanks! Re: Totally changing interior style! 2Oct 07, 2014 8:06 pm Hi If you look at his makeover it will provide some ideas of what you can achieve. The orange and aqua highlights might be all you need. www.katrinaleechambers.com/design-tribe-room-reveal/ Re: Totally changing interior style! 4Oct 08, 2014 8:08 am It does look dark - is this because shutters are closed ? I like to keep it simple (KISS principle). So that Off-white we all use now (American ?) is great - maybe using different depths/shades. Don't like feature walls. A bit dated. Maybe a skylight if house is dark "normally". Good luck. Re: Totally changing interior style! 5Oct 09, 2014 9:00 pm Thanks guys! It isn't a dark space at all, has a bifold, french doors and a window that let in lots of light, I think it was just the time of day and phone camera making it look so. I'm having second thoughts about the feature wall and thinking perhaps bringing in colour with artwork instead? She's backkkkk... Re: Totally changing interior style! 6Oct 10, 2014 7:28 am Hi, We have just had our house painted in Dulux Antique White U.S.A. I love it. I add pops of colour with cushions. I'm hoping to invest in some nice artwork also. Re: Totally changing interior style! 7Oct 13, 2014 7:41 pm Sharee Hi everyone- I haven't posted here for a long time, but would love some help! I've also bought this amazing dining setting which should be here next week- next stop side table for beside the couch and pendant for over the table? I'm madldy trying to get my new website to launch stage, just never have enough free time. Skip the feature wall, you will paint that colour out in a year. Complement with your accessories. Love the table and chairs! Get it all in and post another photo so we can see where to go from there. Your little one has grown! The orange and aqua highlights might be all you need. http://www.katrinaleechambers.com/desig ... om-reveal/ Orange and teal are great on trend colours, and their tips about where to source cheap pieces are spot on. However - please do not copy this furniture placement! Furniture just pushed up against the outer walls and an undersized coffee table stranded in the middle of the room where it is useless for it's purpose - to put your drink on while sitting on the couch! It looks terrible and it's a waste of space. Online sites like Temple and Webster are good, they have some great canvas wall art that is full of colour and cheap. Go big. Just dotting little bitty pieces around the room just looks underdone. No to feature walls, so last century. The Dulux colour consultants are awesome. If you show them the photos they should be able to figure it out for you straight away 1 1734 How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at?
