Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 30, 2014 3:27 pm Hello all, I've decided it's time to repaint my small 3 bedroom house, the dark browns seemed ok when I moved in but 10 years later I'm tired of the oppressive nature of the dark walls. The house is about 140 sqM, 2.4m ceilings, so I need to make it appear larger. The previous owner tinted the windows so it's fairly dark inside, despite having large floor to ceiling windows in all living and bed rooms. Doors and trim are currently stained timber (there's just so much brown and timber!). The colour scheme really needs to be lightened up and modernised. Floors are a combination of timber laminate/terracotta coloured tiles in the kitchen/living, and carpet in the bedrooms. I'll be replacing the carpets and blinds shortly, but first repainting the entire interior, along with new doors. My furniture is mostly mid coloured timber with a cream microfibre lounge. I'm thinking Dulux Breadcrumb walls and 1/4 Breadcrumb doors/skirts/architraves, as a friend used those colours and it worked well. Plain white ceiling. The odd feature wall will be painted in later after I've lived with the new colours for a while. I've read a few good comments about Hog Bristle with White on White trim, but also some posts about it being too yellow. With the roller blinds (which are replacing timber venetians as I want blockouts) - do I go with contrasting blinds (darker or lighter?) or try to match the walls? As a conservative middle aged guy with no idea on styling I'd really appreciate any suggestions.
