Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 10, 2014 5:34 pm Heyo everyone It's been a loooong while since I've been on H1. Feels almost nostalgic being back here again We are painting our lower level walls following water damage (don't ask); and I'm organizing new feature walls. The painters have already covered the main walls 1/4 strength Grey Pebble (Dulux) *very nice I might add*. Advice: I'm painting the boxed-in fireplace either Wattyl Midnight Seas or Haymes Enigma tomorrow. I need to know if Dulux Pluto Pulse in Metallic will be a b**** to paint on either side of the feature. The painters haven't used the metallic range before, but my husband painted our bedroom wall in the metallic range and it turned out godawful (bloody lines everywhere). Now, I'm guessing the painters will do a better job of it, but we get a lot of light in the family room and they don't want to stuff up the walls. *nervous painters* Pics coming. xx Dy Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 2Sep 10, 2014 6:50 pm New colours on the walls below: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Silver on either side of the fireplace, dark dark blue on the fireplace. Hello gorgeous How bad is the dulux metallic range in terms of roller painting? Maybe I should reconsider? Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 6Sep 10, 2014 7:13 pm OK Dy, question. WHY do you want to paint the metallic on the sides of the fireplace? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 7Sep 10, 2014 7:25 pm not on sides of the fireplace. on the two walls on either side. I'm also considering Porter's liquid silver. Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 8Sep 10, 2014 7:29 pm argh to written communication: dark dark blue on the boxed in fireplace surround, silver on the two long walls either side. 10 metres in total. Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 9Sep 10, 2014 7:36 pm OK.... Don't do it, stick to the one colour on all 3 sides. No way would I paint metallic on walls and expect a good coverage. Remember this artwork I did? I had to Crows-foot the paint work because it was not a good coverage. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ok.... just got your other message... Why are you thinking silver?? LOVE your new flooring, its worked out beautifully! The painters and I agree with you. Still, one wall of that dark dark blue will look overwhelming. I really, really wanted some light silver in there somewhere Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 12Sep 10, 2014 8:13 pm bugger it, I can do the wooden framed decorative mirror in a crackle silver. Now, I need a colour for the other two sides Something dashing. x Re: Dulux Special Effects HELP 13Sep 11, 2014 6:31 am Leave this with me, I'll give it some thought. The painters customized a great grey colour for either side of the fireplace and I painted metal rust effects on the fireplace wall itself. Will post pics soon of the results. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
