Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 29, 2014 8:40 am We are doing a kitchen Makeover so will have white gloss cupboards and a diamond gloss benchtop in white valencia. Most likely will get a really light grey splashback. Also the slate is going and we are putting in laminate flooring. So my question is, we have all this useless space where our fireplace is that I would like to use. I want to put some kind of hall table or buffet there for storage. With the new bright kitchen coming I was thinking of a white gloss unit. The problem is, there is an adjoining living area with a dark timber storage unit and coffee table. So would it look stupid to have a white gloss buffet essentially in the same room with dark furniture? I really don't want to replace everything, nor do I want to but I might need to think about other options. I've attached a picture. You can see all the vacant space and on the left you can just see the dark unit. I would love any advice as I'm hopeless and stress out over these things way too much Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Would this look stupid? 2Aug 29, 2014 12:10 pm I think it will be ok. Especially if most of the kitchen is light and white. That short partition wall seems to divide the two areas. And if it doesn't work, then you can always dress the table with a cloth or something else on top. Re: Would this look stupid? 4Sep 02, 2014 6:51 am Its the perfect space for a unit and possibly a nice colourful rug in the centre of the space. White would be the perfect colour. If your concerned about the 2 different colours for storage, like the white and the dark timber, make sure to bring some timber objects (same colour as the timber) the onto the the white unit, so blending the 2 together. OR - you can buy a unit white and timber. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11569 Interested in getting either the Polytec Boston Oak or Palace Peak for kitchen cabinets. Looking at the Boston Oak ones, it appears that the colour varies significantly… 0 9157 |
