Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 03, 2008 3:34 pm Hey Mish, just a question?
Have you used much in the way of the Dulux Pealustre or Metallic range of paints? I'm looking at a couple of colours as an option for a feature wall in the master bedroom, as opposed to using a wallpaper which (knowing my selections) will be too expensive.... They are: Pearlustre - Precious Platinum Metallic - Pewter Illusion or Oriental Shimmer or Chocolate Glimmer (not sure which one?) Are these paints only allowed to be brushed on? Can they be sprayed on to give an even effect by any chance? I'm not really interested in seeing a cross thatched effect on the wall, but might settle for a subtle vertical stroked pattern if i really have to? Any recommendations as to their application or use? I'm selecting these from the brochure at the moment so haven't seen actual samples...(silly i know ), but i thought i'd ask your opinion of them. Re: Use of Dulux Pearlustre or Metallic paints 2Jun 03, 2008 3:47 pm I haven’t anything to do with them.
I’m a solid colour person myself, and usually stay away from effects. I guess it would depend how thick the paint is. I’m assuming possibly a little thicker than standard paints. This will depend how it is applied to the walls. I think you could do it anyway, as all ways will have a different texture when dried. http://www.paintspot.com.au/index.php?I ... hop.browse Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Use of Dulux Pearlustre or Metallic paints 3Jun 03, 2008 7:02 pm P we used pink pearl lustre once in my DDs bedroom.

Lolly pink shimmer <shudder> Re: Use of Dulux Pearlustre or Metallic paints 6Jun 03, 2008 7:43 pm my artistic friends just used these in their home , they love it
so Ive started to look into it from memory theres 3 different ways of applying, spraying was one but recommended only by professionals (cant remember why) the colours are gorgeous on the swatches got the chocolate glimmer sample pot ($16!) didnt look that great just slapped on bit of paper very disco but the little sample things they have look super more even and not so shiny as michelle pointed out though to me bout it, the look could date anyhow it got all too hard and I shelved it but I think theres potential there! Re: Use of Dulux Pearlustre or Metallic paints 7Jun 05, 2008 11:09 am We used the Dulux Pearlustre in our old home as a feature wall in the family room. We chose the Cool Sapphire colour as it went with our lounge / floor rug- unfortunately the only photo I can find is one on the day we left the home - so the room is empty.
It doesn't show it in it's full glory - but we adored it. I loved the shimmery effect it had - we will again be using it in the new home, especially in little Miss 2's bedroom! Now DH is a complete novice when it comes to painting so the first layer was rolled with a normal roller then we bought a special long napped roller for the final coat - it covered really well. This time however we will be using a professional to paint all our feature walls for us. DS's bedroom will probably be in navy tonings so can't choose it for his room. DS probably wouldnt want 'shimmer' anyway!! Paula The yellowing mainly occurs to white or very light colours. 1 2944 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well. A Renderer I… 12 18080 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17879 |
