Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 31, 2014 11:03 am Hi Guys, Our house is nearing lock up stage and SS has advised it could be 2-3 months now. So we have started looking into items we'd want to get before getting into house. One of them is furniture. We have got L shape family area. We are in Melbourne, we have looked at king, Plush and Harvey norman. We have put in some filtering criteria like it need to be leather as that can be easily cleaned. With a 2 yr old and another one on the way its going to be hard to maintain fabric. Leather might be much easier. From forum I have read that neutral color is good as then you can change accessories according to your tastes. One thing I and wifey are not clear on is modular or 2 by 3 by 1s? If you guys went either ways could you tell what were the reasons. Also any other comments validating or invalidating my views will be super-helpful. Thanks Re: Modular vs 2X3 for Family area with kids 2Jul 31, 2014 6:12 pm Hi macmaz, It really depends on the space you have which style/formation will work best. Can you post a floor plan up so we can see the area? Absolutely can't wait. Our old Plush lounge is 10 years old and is still super comfortable. It's fabric and has held up remarkably well. Anyway i did not go for a modular although I definitely love the look of them. One thing I do like is having somewhere to rest the drinks etc so 2 X 2.5 seater mean every seat has access to a side table. It's just personal preference I think. I loved the king neo modular but unfortunately we didn't find it as comfortable as the one we got. Yes a floor plan will probably draw more comments for you. Often a modular is bought in pieces and you can rearrange the setting as you like. Like the king jasper. If you guys can provide more views will be appreciated greatly. At this stage we are looking at the lounge suite for Family area which is 3920 wide. Re: Modular vs 2X3 for Family area with kids 5Aug 02, 2014 4:58 pm Definitely a modular you have ample space for one, the bigger the better I have found you get more bums on seats with modular's. Absolutely can't wait. Our old Plush lounge is 10 years. Did the same here but our 2+3 plush sofa was only 5-6 years old. Actually the 2 seater is only 2 years old (replaced under warranty) and because of this, the colour is now mismatched, cream and white. I was told that's how leather variation could be across different batch. Which is kind of the reason I was to replace it, just an eye sore. We bought a Houdini lounge + chase for family room and the king cloud for the home theater. Was so close in getting the neo modular to replace the plush sofa in the lounge but was strapped for cash. Especially when we also got the canyon dining set and coffee table, the edge tv unit and buffet table, the sarenade bed and a couple of rugs on clearance from them. As much as I want the neo modular, it also meant the new lily pad corner table I just bought from Bludot will have to find a new spot too. It was also hard to justify spending on the most expensive item just to replace existing sofas (the other items were for rooms that would have otherwise been empty). Plus, the lounge is where we spent the least amount of time in the house. Mostly in the family or home theater room. Re: Modular vs 2X3 for Family area with kids 8Aug 04, 2014 9:34 pm We bought the King Cloud as well. How comfortable is it? Only thing that concerned me was after we bought it the assistant reminded us that the arms are 'floating' so no one can perch on the arms. We will get a little timber board made for the arms to discourage it, but it was still a bit annoying. Lots of my friends kids plop themselves into an arm and I'm not very good at asking people that sort of thing. A professional clean did wonders on my old Plush lounge too. Came up like new at the time which as a couple of years ago. Re: Modular vs 2X3 for Family area with kids 9Aug 05, 2014 7:54 am We got the 900 wide three seater model, each seat is wide enough for two people. Plenty of room so I doubt anyone would want to seat on the arm rest. Otherwise, just add the flexi table to prevent them from sitting there. My niece and nephew never seat on the arm rest, they love the reclining seats. Re: Modular vs 2X3 for Family area with kids 10Jan 06, 2016 11:01 am Long shot, but how are you guys finding your king cloud. Are you still finding it comfortable and have you had any issues with the electronics. we have ordered ours for a late delivery and took extra warranty on the electronics but want to see if the cushioning is still ok. we have a jasper but the cushion looks lived in and we have to fluff it regularly.
