We are working with a grey base as opposed to beige for our colour scheme. There is specific reasoning behind this. I am thinking of burnt orange for the back of the island bench sort of as a feature as opposed to putting the colour on the glass splashback. The splashback will be clear with the wall colour coming thru (bristol south pole). I'm not afraid of colour just sometimes I wonder where to put it. Is this a weird place to introduce the colour? I was prowling the net looking at splashback designs for an island bench and came across this, which is not what I was looking for, but I think is what you are talking about..... http://www.splashbackswithglass.com.au/ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Colour in the right place? 3Jun 02, 2008 5:32 pm Yeah not so bright it's burnt orange sort of duller, more subtle. Not so weird and freaky! And it's not actually going to be glash splashback there, it will be parbury laminate. I meant the colour there rather than putting the colour on the splashback.
God, now I'm confusing myself. I know what I mean... Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Don't be embarrassed even if you did think the colour idea is weird. I'm not that thin skinned I grew up with 4 brothers. I can take it! Haven't had very good reactions about putting colour there. Apparently the CORRECT thing is to introduce colour on the splashback. I like the orange but I don't want task lighting reflecting the orange and blinding me every time i cook a meal. So I thought there at the back of the island instead. But our (pretty hopeless) colour consultant was not impressed! And I thought decorating was open to personal interpretation... Jo joles…..It as good a place to put as anywhere else. But remember….its permanent! No getting tired of the colour. Sounds good, but you will be constricted with what Laminates to do this with. They only have a few colours in the burnt orange. I would check out what’s available in all laminated first, to see it there is any you like. Also remember, if you find one you like, make sure to complement the colour elsewhere in the room/rooms so it is balanced and not on its own. I have found the colour. It matches the cushions on the wooden dining suite and the throw on the couch. And also the terracotta hearts on the bricks that you can see in the outdoor room from the kitchen. The colour is zinnia. I'm pretty confident with the colour. (we'll revise that after it's done!) just needed to know if the placement is ok. As for it being permanent, because it is a flat panel, I've been told it won't be too hard to change if it looks tired in a couple of years. I did actually mean that it was weird that I came across that yesterday....I thought it was a clever place to put color, as Mish said the only issue if it's how easy would it be to replace but sounds like that's covered. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil.
