Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 30, 2014 4:12 pm Hello, I am currently painting my house, and in all of the rooms I can still see the plaster joins on the new walls. I have done an undercoat/primer then 2 coats of white paint. Do I need to keep on putting the white paint on till it is covered, looks like it could be another few coats yet? I noticed the primer didn't cover there much, so maybe I need a new primer? Any advice would be appreciated. Re: See plaster joins through paint 2Jul 30, 2014 5:23 pm There are a few issues involved. 1 The finish of the joints, as the surface texture may be different. 2 The surface may not be perfectly flat 3. The absorbancy of the different material of the joint, the better the surface is sealed the less this will have an effect 4. The paint thickness, Spray paint is quick but puts on much less paint than a brush. 5, An effect called glanced light which makes the smallest defect more apparent (see http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2012/04/gla ... rfections/) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: See plaster joins through paint 4Jul 30, 2014 8:04 pm Sounds like the plaster job was not as good as it could have been. I've seen it many times......before painting, you should have sanded it right back. Re: See plaster joins through paint 6Aug 14, 2014 9:05 pm Sorry about the late repIy It's been hectic around here as we just got the carpet installed. We used a 4 in 1 British Paint primer, it looked thin/watery when it went on and didn't cover much of the gyprock or plaster joins. Both the roof and walls look very patchy, I'm starting to think that I didn't use enough paint on the ceiling/walls. To me it looked like the plaster job was pretty good and we got someone in who has a lot of experience too. If i can figure it out, ill attache a few photos here. We have now done a primer and 3 coats, think it looks worse. Need to find a way to fix it Hi, Have used the Dulux 1 step, oil base on my walls(white set), out of can it’s already a more thinner product than a final coat paint Also in water base Water or… 3 5038 yeah i couldnt picture it issue either, but i could clearly picture what they were doing wrong haha 2 5300 Our 6m high Cathedral ceiling has 0 insulation, just plaster, wrap and tiles as far as I can tell.
