Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 02, 2008 3:27 pm Hi there, I'm hoping for some opinions and avice regarding the kitchen which we will be getting in the next 4 - 5 weeks.
We have decided on gloss white cabinet doors with Caesarstone Nova Aurora benchtops. The problem we have is that we are both completely hopeless when it comes to colours, hence we need some help. Currently we have polished Cypress Pine floors throughout our post war home and we were intending to keep them in the new kitchen. However, being a 60 year old house, a lot of the floor boards are quite gappy, so we are thinking of tiling just the kitchen area (obviously the bathroom & ensuite are also tiled). Now, here are my questions: 1. Will it look silly with a tiled kitchen when the rest of the house (except bathrooms) are timber? 2. If we tile the floors, should we keep the floor and splashback colour similar? If not, should we do a latte type colour on the floor and a white splashback, or white tiles on the floor and latte coloured splashback? Look forward to hearing your opinions on this. Cheers and thank you in advance Lotte Re: Kitchen Dilemma 2Jun 02, 2008 7:13 pm You know you can get your floor boards repaired?
Just in case you want to keep them. If tiling….the best option is Latte on the floor and white splashbacks. You may regret having white floor tiles…………….lots of work. Yes, our rental has polished white floor tiles. Beautiful to clean, beautiful after being cleaned but my goodness...........you can see every crumb, hair, grit from outside........it stays clean for about 5 minutes after being washed. If I won lotto & could afford a cleaner, then I'd have them. But until then - no white floor tiles in our new nouse. You could have them filled in the kithen area only and go with boards in the kitchen too. Either way - tiled or vinyl or boards is fine in a kitchen IMO. But not dark or light colours. Both show up the dirt. Steve Thanks for sharing. Looks good. The joiner has come back with a quote of close to 5k. I think we are going to not do it. Attaching panelling is something they are dead… 11 10080 The gap can be adjusted so it's tighter. You can definitely set up corner cabinets to have the same gap as standard doors. 2 8581 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 3664 |
