I have put your colours together and, Dulux Beige Royal Render & Surf Mist render are too close to each other in colour. You won’t get a contrast in colours when it’s all painted up. The colours will wash out in the sun, and to me that will be a real shame and a waste of a great external façade! I love the Dulux Pot Black….which I don’t have in my new Dulux fan deck….NOT HAPPY JAN! Found it in the exterior paint broacher. My choice would be - Colour A...Boral Horizon Mocha brickwork Colour B...Dulux Beige Royal Render Colour C...Dulux Pot Black render Colour D...Linseed, two steps darker than the Beige Royal. You now have a colour scheme that has 2 colours complementing each other and one as the dominate colour. Get some sample pots…paint them up, you will see what I mean. If you would like to go bolder…I would also look at Dulux Barnfloor, instead of the Linseed. Remember…..when the sun hits these colours they wash out a good 2 shades lighter. Still looking, will let you know if I find anything better, but usually my first choice is my best! Colour A...Boral Horizon Mocha brickwork Colour B...Dulux Limed White Colour C...Dulux Pot Black render Colour D...Dulux Pale Earth Great combo with the Pot Black should comp your bricks as well. That’s it no more, as you have enough to go look at! Agreed! Great job archaeobabe. But I'm going to be no help to you Mrs B - I think both options look good! Is there going to be another building put up on this side of the house? I hope not - would be a shame to not be able to see it! Hi Donuts, Yes, just one and I am very sad about it even though I knew from the moment I bought the block another house would be built there. That block would have cost us another 100k even though its almost the same size. You pay a premium to be the block on the end. Mrs B Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 26Jun 02, 2008 8:55 pm mek Any way you swap the colours, it looks spectacular, Mrs. B. Are you going to leave any bricks showing? (I wouldn't!) Hi Mek, Bricks are right around the garage. Architect didnt want total render neither did we. Also, the metal fins will break up the line of the render and give it more impact around the house. Hi Mike, I agree with you, I also like the second picture as well, for some reason it looks much more balanced. Mrs B Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 27Jun 02, 2008 9:01 pm Hi Archaeobabe,
Thankyou so much for all the effort you have put into this thread. I understand that the colours are not exactly what they may be in real life but it helps tremendously to make a better informed decision. Would I be able to ask you to do the colours of the Second selection of colours that Michelle suggested as they seem to be different...if you dont mind Mrs B Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 28Jun 02, 2008 9:08 pm Hi Michelle,
Darn!!!! my measly dulux colour charts dont have those colours but I think I know what colours they are ( I really do need to get me one of those fancy colour fans ) Off to the paint shop to get swatches. I have had a really good look at the plans and the beige royal seems to be the main colour for the rest of the house. I love the pot black as well. I really appreciate you having a look at the colours for me...I have some serious thinking to do Mrs B Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 29Jun 02, 2008 9:10 pm I didn’t mean to throw you out…...have a look see what you think. Happy to do another update if someone can provide a digital colour swatch! Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 33Jun 02, 2008 10:14 pm Sorry about that archaeobabe….some of the colours I use are designer colours only.
I’ll see what I can do tomorrow night for you. Thanks so much! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 34Jun 02, 2008 10:27 pm Mrs B, I love the Pot black (lol i thought it was actually going to be a black!) and especially the Beige Royal or something similar as the main colour. I think it would also compliment your front facade brickwork well. But the surf mist is a bit light IMO...sorry...
Is the pot black going to be used on the portico too? I think it would look really nice, unless you are introducing another colour as a feature there? I can't wait to see samples of the other colours Mish has suggested too. Archaeobabe and Mike, very nice jobs with the mockups!!! Its always nice to visualise it!!! Anyone game to have a go at the front facade??? Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 35Jun 04, 2008 8:10 am Hi Phoenix,
Sorry to take so long to get back to your questions, I'm still very confused about the colour combinations and its very hard to show the house as it is covered with scaffolding. I love the pot black colour, we have a sample pot and its a deep chocolate colour which surprised me as well. It is used for the feature eaves (not shown in the picture) as these wrapt around 3 sides of the house. The surf mist was the colour that didnt feel right from the start...its a nothing colour for exteriors. I think ladyice used this for her ceilings inside so it really is not a strong exterior colour IMHO...but I could be wrong Anyway, what ever I decide you will see the real thing in the next few months...I think I will be hiding that day, it will either be terrible or stunning and I'm sure all the surrounding builders will have a comment or two as they have now... Mrs B Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 36Jun 04, 2008 4:51 pm if you like the silvery pale colours try Dune instead of surf mist. It worked well for us and goes well with chocolate Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 37Jun 05, 2008 2:03 pm DeeElle if you like the silvery pale colours try Dune instead of surf mist. I've got a few dulux brochures but dosent really show you any colour...wheres that big fan deck that Michelles got, I want one...how much do they cost I wonder? Mrs B Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 38Jun 05, 2008 2:06 pm Mrs B,
When I asked about those fan decks a few months ago they were $45 from memory. That was at a paint shop. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Michelle could you please look at my render colours... 39Jun 05, 2008 2:06 pm Hey Mrs B……you can buy them!!!!
