Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 27, 2014 12:37 pm Hey all,
So my lovely black roof has just gone up and now I find myself regretting my render choice. Need advice on what I should change to. My house I am now beginning to feel that my render colour choice may be too light. The colour is Wattyl/Solver Alabaster. I got a sample pot a few weekends ago and painted some bricks to try it out. The whole house will be rendered in this colour, except the portico (which will be Solver Wallaby). I've attached a few photos so you get an idea of what I'm feeling. Render colour sample in the sun Render colour sample in the shade I want to go for a warm light grey (not that blueish hue), but I don't want it to look cream. Anything but cream. What it's supposed to look like; I agonised over this choice at prestart, but I'm not confident in my choice. I need to be sure before I make a costly mistake! All help, tips and feedback welcome. Would love advice from the homeone gurus too *wink wink* Thanks Re: Need to rethink render choice - help pls! 2Jul 06, 2014 12:43 pm The search continues. Render options. The top bricks of each colour were given two coats. For whatever reason the text boxes I placed on the photos are not working. The top patch is Solver Wallaby. Centre left is Solver Cloudy Sky, centre right is Dewkist, bottom is southwards. The features are Solver Urban Tribe and Caribou. Caribou is the darker one. On the north facing wall The colours again... left to right - Alabaster, Wallaby, Cloudy Sky, Dewkist, Southwards Solver fandeck I'm now leaning towards Cloudy Sky and Urban Tribe as I feature. I've given myself the task to make a choice today. Re: Exterior Render Selection - All opinions welcome! 4Jul 07, 2014 11:52 am It is hard to tell because the red brick will be throwing you off and the patches you've painted are fairly small. Get a sheet of ply wood, paint one side in your chosen colours and the otherside in another set of colours you like. Then take a spare roof tile and sit it on top of the ply, that will give you a better idea of what you like. I feel comfortable with these choices. Most people I have asked like Cloudy Sky, so I'm happy to go with the consensus! d@n The roof is very dark so you're faced with a high contrast. Good luck with your choice. Thanks I'm not afraid of contrast. It's the look I'm going for with the dark roof, dark window frames and light render. I just didn't want to monochrome! That would be too full on. Burnsfirsttime Get a sheet of ply wood, paint one side in your chosen colours and the otherside in another set of colours you like. Cheers. Can't wait to see how it looks. I'll be sure to upload photos when the time comes Re: Exterior Render Selection - All opinions welcome! 6Jul 08, 2014 10:54 am Great you've made your selections now Pan and are happy with them it will look awesome for sure!
