Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: House Rules 2014 2Jun 13, 2014 4:08 pm As with The Block, I find the editing atrocious. And the website is awful as well, someone needs to educate their developer on the basics of usability. But aside from that am enjoying the show. I thought Candy and Ryan did an excellent job on Monica's flat. Re: House Rules 2014 3Jun 13, 2014 6:05 pm Drives me to the drink......again! BUT.... I have to say, a few of them are pretty good little reno buffs. I am surprised that 'arty-farty' is more important than actual quality finish in this show, although I still watch it whenever I can. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: House Rules 2014 5Jun 13, 2014 7:49 pm Isn't if funny how we love to dislike something, then still keep watching!! I walked past the TV while it was on a few weeks ago and the show was on....I stopped, looked at what was going on, and walked off grumbling to myself about it! I have still managed to sit down and watch more just so I can grumble some more. Remember last year when Michelle wanted Morocco with a touch of Hawaii?? What the heck is that? This year the junk shop house was truly bizarre. I mean up cycling has a place but who wants old tyres in the house? Mind you I haven't missed an episode. I'm going for Carol and Russell this year. Also I love Home Beautiful and Wendy is probably a good judge of design but I prefer Caroline the designer to give feedback. I think they should be allowed to hire their own painters as the paint work is truly awful. Re: House Rules 2014 12Jul 06, 2014 8:57 pm Well there you go, all over and done with till next time. Have to admit for a renovation and design show, it was very disappointing to see that it was decided on based upon a popularity vote, totally unrelated to the content of the show. The couple that scored higher for the final room renovation, actually lost the competition due to the simple reason that the other couple were more popular. I would have been very pleased to seen Adam and Lisa win if they had've scored higher in the final room renovation, but they didn't. Am I the only person to be disappointed by someone winning based upon their popularity rather than their renovation/design skills ? Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: House Rules 2014 14Jul 06, 2014 9:41 pm Well they did stuff up the windows opening position above the spa, which was a very bad mistake if you ask me. However they did not notice the poor wallpapering done by Carol and Russell up near the TV. I was quite surprised to see that they did not notice it at all. Either way, the whole idea of the show is scoring the renovations and designs, and that's how they whittled down the entrants week by week, but then chose to settle on the winner of the series based upon their popularity. If both teams had scored the same as each other, then I guess popularity would be okay. FWIW, this popularity vote was closed off before any of those voting got to see the final room reveals. Phone in voting stinks, and the winner is always going to be the most popular because they get multiple calls from the same people. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. But I was suckered in and watched the whole lot. I dint ring I'm though. Re: House Rules 2014 18Jul 06, 2014 10:50 pm Ari They fixed the wallpaper at the last minute with a new sheet. I think its a toss up whether that wallpaper worked or was tacky though…. I saw that sheet 9 being replaced, but there was a piece just near where the wall mount tv was.... it stuck out like the proverbials to me. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Anyway, I did think Carole & Russell's room was better. I thought both couples deserved to win but was kind of hoping that the "geriatrics" would so they could enjoy retirement. But I hate the phone in voting too. Re: House Rules 2014 20Jul 07, 2014 12:03 am Hee hee I was hoping Adam and Lisa ......I didn't like the way Carol would boss the other contestants around especially Maddie and Lloyd when they did the garden make over ie your at Masters pick up this, this and this viewtopic.php?t=62083 "is it exempt or do I need to get permission from council" Call your Council and ask them 1 1537 1 1914 You’re on the right track, wire brush in a grinder then a zinc rich epoxy primer then a top coat of some sort, like a waterproofing membrane.
