Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 08, 2014 11:36 pm I'll start off by admitting I am dead set useless when it comes to style/design/colours etc. I am starting to build and thinking about internal colour schemes, including floors, cabinetry, etc. My current furniture is mainly black leather, gloss black, chrome and glass. This is a look that I generally like and will more or less stick with into the future. I guess my question is, what goes with that? I am definitely going to use a wood look floor, most likely vinyl plank. My immediate thought is to have a contrast, so using a light coloured timber look. Maybe a light grey or just a light natural timber look? As for cabinetry, I just don't know. Again, should I try and contrast with the floor, or am I way off the mark here? Re: Internal colour scheme 2Apr 09, 2014 12:35 pm Hi monty1104, No doubt there'll be plenty of input from the peeps on the forum. For my 2c worth, I would think if you had the existing black furniture, you may want to keep your colour schemes quite minimalist and cool. There are heaps of photos throughout the forum of people using whites and greys etc. in kitchens and bathrooms. I know that you said you were thinking of timber look floors and I think that could work (especially the light timber that you mentioned), however apart from the floor I would stay away from too much other timber as this usually works more with a warmer colour pallet, not so much black and chrome. I would think for cabinetry you may go cool white to compliment the existing furniture. I wish you the best of luck and would be interested in seeing what others have to say. Cheers, Jenny. Hi Monty, Vinyl flooring - NICE choice! Below is - Karndean's vinyl flooring which I'm a fan of. KP104 Light Worn Oak Product code: KP104 Range: Knight Tile Product size: Standard wood planks, (915mm x 152mm) - See more at: http://www.karndean.com/en-au/floors/lo ... fdaie.dpuf Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This will go beautifully with your blacks and chrome. So if this goes well, so will a light oak in your cabinetry, either a real Oak or a stain. I'd look for a warm white on the walls to ballance the cool colours of the black and greys. If you need a hand with the wall colour let me know. Have fun....
