Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 19, 2008 6:58 pm Hi Michelle
We are building our home, and have chose China White for flow through colour (...I think!) Our home is fairly modern, but more a classic modern, not ultra modern. I need to pick some colours for our 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old daughters room. They have all white furniture. Will buy new quilt covers etc when we move in to match new paint. Soooo... I have the taubmans interior brochure and also dulux interior brochure. I dont mind darkish colours as their rooms will be quite large. We are having Alabaster colours plantation shutters. Any ideas??? I want something modernish, but girly aswell. Am thinking a shabby chic type thing for the older daughter, and am stuck for my youngest! Re: Daughters bedroom colours?? 2May 19, 2008 7:17 pm How about for the 2 year old Dulux “ Slipper Moss” complement with purples and burnt orange in bedspreads and cushions.
The 3 ½ year old… Dulux “Artiste” complemented with lemons and lime greens. To get an authentic Shabby Chic look you need to lime wash a few things in the room. Possibly and old dresses you would like to do up? It goes well with white trim. I've seen a few bed sets in these colours, available at Target and Spotlight.
Another colour scheme that's popular is pink and lime green with white accents. You can even mix some orange in with it. Once again, I've seen a few bed sets that will compliment the colours (same stores). Judie Re: Daughters bedroom colours?? 4May 21, 2008 9:56 pm we've decorated a few bedrooms for my daughter who is now 5 (have moved 3 times in her short life )
White furniture is always good as you can change the wall colour, sheers and bedlinen and get a completely different look. Her first bedroom was all French linen blue with cream. It was an old house so we painted the lower third of the walls blue and upper walls cream. We put a beautiful French frieze 1/3 up the wall to divide the colours (blue and cream beach scene). A few bright red items added some extra zing. It looked great. Next bedroom she chose lime green paint for a feature wall from Porters and we put up a number of contrasting colour decals for the wall behind her white bed. We dressed up her roller blind by gluing a dark pink fringe on the bottom of the blind and added painted butterfly sheers for extra layering. It was predominantly lime green, white and pink. This time 'round its a new house & we are keeping her fairly new white furniture. I am getting a custom made lightshade made from dark raspberry silk with light and dark pink ribbons over the top. Its fairly big and will be a feature for her room. I've also bought some white and pink ribbon curtains to put up behind her bed to offset the lightshade. Apart from that the room will be 1/4 strength Hog Bristle like the rest of the house. So this time around she is having white with splashes of pink and raspberry. My mum made her a quilt for her bed which is predominantly white and raspberry (big flowers) and I'll buy her a pin board which are the same colours to lean up against her wall. I've also purchased her a couple of Linen House light pink framed pictures for her wall. What I often do is look around the kids decor shops and buy a couple of well made items in a colour of her choice. Then I decorate the rest of the room around that theme (usually by finding cheaper items at other shops like Target etc) But I always get her good linen .
