Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 17, 2008 11:05 pm Hi Michelle,
Hoping this will be an easy one for you.... We are having a storage cupboard in the passage way off our living area (sliding) & a linen press outside our main bathroom (opening) & the doors will be laminex. Laminex have a choice of 7 standard colours for the sliding doors & I need something that goes well with our China White walls. The whites are either Polar White or Antique White. Or, the other option is to pay a bit extra and use the Moleskin (which is our kitchen cupboard colour). I think it works out to be $200 extra, so thinking it may be worth paying that to get the Moleskin which I know goes well with the China White . Thanks, Jo P.S. Kitchen is nearly in & looking fantastic with our Sydney Blue Gum timber floor Will have to get organised & post some pictures - all takes too long with dial up!! Re: Quick question - is there such a thing? 2May 18, 2008 12:06 am If you stick with the white, the doors will blend in with the rest of the paintwork rather than standing out. Depends what you want to achieve - blend in or feature. Either way would look good, but I'd probably go with the blend in option.
Judie Re: Quick question - is there such a thing? 3May 18, 2008 10:49 am Jo…what colour are all your other doors in the house, not including the kitchen ones?
I have a problem making these doors stand out, if the others are blending. Remember……a door is a door, it’s not really a great architectural feature. If you have blended all your other doors in your home, you must do the same with these ones. I have your colours beside me, what did you do with the other doors? What colour did you paint them? All our trims & doors are China White gloss - including built in robes in bedrooms. Our cabinetmaker is doing the doors for the linen press & storage cupboard & thinks that as they are in high traffic areas they will be better in laminex rather than 2 pac for wear & tear (cheaper as well). I suppose the other option is just to get the painter to paint them rather than the 2 pac Jo Re: Quick question - is there such a thing? 5May 18, 2008 1:28 pm Sorry Michelle, my one question has just turned into two and is totally unrelated.
Do you think it looks OK for bathroom floor tiles to be laid on the diagonal? Our tiles are 200x200 and had pictured them to be laid square to the wall, but DH & tiler have decided to lay them 45 degrees to the wall. Have had a quick flick through a couple of kitchen/bathroom mags and although I found a couple on the diagonal most are square. Just another one of those things that I've had pictured in my mind one way & now it is going to be different! If the wall tile is smaller than 200 x 200 the best option s to lay them offset. It looks pretty tacky if wall tile and floor tile are not the same size and they don’t match when laid. The grout lines are really obvious! Thanks so much Michelle, I didn't have any samples of the New Antique White & wanted to make sure it was OK with the China White, you have taken the stress out of it for me once again My wall tiles are 200x300 so would be OK square, but think he was already starting today, so offset it will be......not to worry I'm sure it will be fine. Jo Re: Quick question - is there such a thing? 9May 19, 2008 3:33 pm Have to say…..the floor will better laid off set, as your tiles are not the same size!
