Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: The Block - 2014 22Feb 02, 2014 6:44 pm bpratt Finally got to sit down to watch Tuesday night's episode. Rather disappointed with both of them. What I was very disappointed with what that the 'winners' chose to use that dumb American style graffiti.... come on guys, this is Australia, not the 51st state of the USA. This basically legitimatises vandalism that these graffiti hoodlums do on other people's properties. Did anyone think that the graffiti on the 'winners' side was better and more usuable in a 'arty-farty' way than the one on the other side of the building ? Whilst I'd normally agree with you, the design brief was "Downtown New York Loft". Graffiti/street art does fit that Bill quite well, although not to my taste, and would be a bit put off had they chosen it for their actual home, it did meet the brief for the challenge. I honestly think out of the 4 couples in the elimination, the best two were on the 1st night. The two couples on night 2 were both terrible (well the plastic fruit plate couple were woeful) but the ones who beat them were only marginally better... And that wasn't hard. Feel bad for the couple who only really lost by a miniscule amount on night one, because really they deserved a spot over the "default" winners on night two. Love love love Brad & Dale. So funny... And I adored the controversial twins too, so I'm right behind them again. I also enjoyed the tension between the fans groups, very strategic move I think putting them together, create a bit of drama. Kara? The blonde girl really was struggling with the dancing knick knack loving girl... I think Knick Knack (sorry I nickname them while I learn their real names) really wanted to get girly buddy buddy and Kara wasn't really in to it. Haha Love The Block Re: The Block - 2014 23Feb 02, 2014 7:03 pm Whilst it did fit the brief, I still believe that the graffiti was more usuable on the right side room, than what they had on the left side. You're right, the first night rooms were far superior on all levels than the second night. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Can't believe she actually thought the blonde girl would like that yellow winnie the pooh pillow! I feel for the blonde girl having to deal with her, she's totally hopeless hahaha. Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68375 Re: The Block - 2014 28Feb 02, 2014 10:33 pm I reckon they deliberately pitted the two weakest fan teams against each other in order to end up with a weak team in the show. It creates more interest to have a team or two that are much greener than the rest. No one wants to watch experienced interior designers churn out perfect rooms all the time, no problems, like well oiled machines. There's got to be some underdogs! Like Matt and Kim's hideous murder room last year, and the winnie the pooh pillow... It's those parts are what makes the Block hilarious to watch. This is in Brisbane - was it on where you are Michelle? Yes...that's where I got this from, last nights episode. Don't worry I read all the comments on Instagram and there were some very upset Queenslanders..... The show needs to keep coming up with quirky plots or it will be "same...same" and people will loose interest. I can't stand the antics and ockerism's from scott cam. I'm only interested in the building & design stuff. Unfortunately that takes up 10% of the show. It also needs some cultural diversity rather than just blonde barbie and cute young white couples. Re: The Block - 2014 32Feb 03, 2014 9:12 am Yes Dan I agree they really seem to be choosing on looks don't they....! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: The Block - 2014 33Feb 03, 2014 5:09 pm Mmmm, not sure you could call the twins - cute blonds??? In fact there is only one blond on the show at the moment.....(not quite sure she is a blond?) lol Not going there, its a personal thing with this show as its been said before. There's times I want to slap the judges not just the contestants but that's what makes it interesting to watch. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: The Block - 2014 34Feb 03, 2014 5:46 pm A year ago, we were renovating and spent 14wks living entirely in our rumpas room. To pass time I downloaded every season of the The Block to watch in the evenings when we couldn't keep working. I tell you what, the first couple of seasons? Back when Jamie Durie hosted? 100% based on the looks of the contestants. Without a doubt. It's nothing like that now! They still have a few good looking people here and there but I think if you rattle off names of the contestants over the last three years they definitely weren't picked for their looks lol. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. I'm just watching Monday's Brisbane episode and have realised they must show us the same stuff, just on an extra long Monday night ep. It's like a two hour episode. The boys were spooning in this episode for us, that's how I knew haha. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 6 11144 Yes it had a house on it. But Melbourne water only wanted something the original size of the existing house. We managed to fit a 45sq house on. 10 33659 4 4490 |
