Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 25, 2013 8:34 pm Hi all,
Our DA is approved! We are looking to start construction in mid to late January. We have picked most of the interior colours and finished but are really struggling with the exterior. The two bricks we like are PGH Cement http://www.pghbricks.com.au/Bricks/Show_191.aspx and Boral Escura Velour Mineral http://www.boral.com.au/productcatalogue/product.aspx?product=2569 Happy to look at others if this is holding back the overall scheme. We like grey tones but think it wont suit the area and will date very quickly as the area was built up around 40 years ago and we are the only new or even renovated house in the surrounds. We like the lighter colourbond roof colours such as Dune and Surfmist, partly from the look and partly the energy / heat positives but can't pick a colour for the cladding. Here is a picture of our elevations, if it helps the ground level has a floor level that is 700mm about natural ground level as we are in flood zone. This hopefully explains if the ground level looks taller. So this is what we have but really any help would greatly appreciated especially be great to hear from Michelle. Any changes or suggestion will help so dont hold back. Roof - Liking Colourbond Surfmist and Dune but really any of the lighter colours Gutters - same a roof Fascia - ? Downpipes - what ever colour makes them blend Eaves - ? Portico Pillars - Same a brick but might render or the like at later date if want to Cladding - Possibly Taubmans Cookie Jar but really not sure http://www.taubmans.com.au/colourcentre/colour-details/64106/COOKIE Windows - Surfmist or Dune? Front Door - Mid to dark timber? Rear Deck and front Portico floor - will be mid to dark timber Garage Door - Either Timber like front door or possibly roof colour? Thanks in advance, Martin Re: Exterior Colour help 4Nov 28, 2013 9:40 pm It might be helpful for you to download the colourbond visualiser, even though the colours aren't exactly accurate on screen. Pick a house similar to your own and have a play. Re: Exterior Colour help 7Dec 05, 2013 12:04 am Perhaps Wattyl Flokati for cladding, Flokati and Dune look good together. But I have Evening haze for my shed/garage and think it would also be a great exterior cladding colour! Love it. In hindsight I would have used it on my house, except that we had already had prestart for the house choices. The best way is to start getting a few sample pots, paint 2 coats onto A3 size or bigger white card, then try them against your brick samples. That will really narrow things down for you and you can see the effect of the sun on them at different times of day as well. Re: Exterior Colour help 8Jan 14, 2014 9:13 pm Sorry to bring this up but thought better then starting a new thread. We have decided to go one of three ways for the first floor 1) Boral Velour volcanic brick with possibly Dulux Slate Pebble for the clad 2) PGH Slate brick with Possibly Dulux Milton moon for the clad 3) acrylic bag with colourbond colours of Windspary on first storey then Shale grey on clad the surfmist roof We are still liking a surfmist roof but happy to go with another light or medium colour if works better with other colours. So the big question is what colours would people recommend on the second storey clad with either of the two bricks before we sent to D@n for some visuals. Also what are people's opinions with having one colour for both storeys and the roof a separate colour verses three separate colours like suggestions able? Thanks Martin Re: Exterior Colour help 9Jan 15, 2014 8:43 am mb21 We are still liking a surfmist roof but happy to go with another light or medium colour if works better with other colours. We have a Classic Cream roof and given I have seldom seen it on a display home you can see a pic of it here if it helps:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37873876/Photo%2019-12-2013%2018%2015%2017_.jpg Re: Exterior Colour help - still 10Jan 15, 2014 2:15 pm Have you seen the new colours available? I think there is at least one new lighter colour. Depending on the brick colour, windspray can appear quite blue. Re: Exterior Colour help - still 11Jan 15, 2014 6:16 pm Hi ugbug and treeseachanger thanks for the replies. We've looked at all the new and old colours and the only colours we really like are surfmist, dune, shale grey and maybe on Windspary. Want to keep with the lighter colours if we can make the rest of the scheme work. So far were obviously struggling Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding.
