As you can see from my previous post, the paint colour is quite bland. as all tend to be "pure white" (our current selection is vivid white (dulux). See the following is the first coating in the kitchen area. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The painters are going to apply the real paint from tomorrow, and suggested this morning that us to keep Ceiling, cornice, skirting in VIVID White, BUT and change the colour of doors and walls to WINTER SKY or FLOKATI (i think they are from wattyl). Just talked to my wife, and we decided to go with Chalk USA (Dulux). What do you think? We dont like pinky and anything dark, but we dont like all in vivid white either. FYI: the kitchen door is frosty white. The floor tiles is creamy "Estone Ivory" Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 2May 08, 2008 10:38 am I was going to post a similar question, not that I'm up to that yet, but I was just thinking that when the time comes I'll need some advice!
I want white walls, I want them to look like they're pure white, but I don't want them to feel cold or stark. Anyway, looking forward to Michelle's response. Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 3May 08, 2008 6:04 pm oznow….. Chalk USA (Dulux) is a great colour! Very neutral but not stark like a pure white!
You should be very happy with this colour. Rachelle…..to get away from bright cold white try Dulux “Whisper White” the white your having when your not having a white! One of my Claytons colours…the colour you’re having when you’re not having a colour! Your young, and probably don’t know that add for the Claytons drink! Mish the new house has whisper white on the walls, but 1 1/2 strength...I love it, but to me it looks quite creamish?? Could it be that the owner has no idea what she is on about, or is it my computer screen?? http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii130/johnspj_photos/104660024cl1205215913.jpg Paula Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 6May 08, 2008 9:39 pm Thanks Michelle! The whisper white sounds perfect, but... do you have one in Taubmans? Or can I just ask for whisper white and they'll make it?
We have Antique White USA in our unit with China White trims; I really like it but for the new house I want something even whiter. I think we'll either do trims in China White again, or just match the trims and roof to the wall colour, is that just too crazy boring? We'll have wood floors of some type, probably blackbutt. Sorry for the piggyback oznow! Oh and Michelle, yeah I don't remember the ad but I know what you're talking about!! Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 7May 09, 2008 9:10 am Hi Rachelle, you may not find the Whisper White for you if you are looking for a white…I’ll have another look later on for you.
I hate to say….but there really is only one white!!! And that’s WHITE! Paula……my A4 colour swatch of Whisper White, was NOWAY that colour even at full strength! Just packed them all into my car I have 2 jobs on today…but I’ll be sure to look at it again later. I put it up next to a pure white last night, and it was only slightly off white, with yes with a HINT of mustard in it. Ask the people who you bought the house off to leave all paint tins in the garage so you know they are. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 8May 09, 2008 9:36 am Actually, I'm looking around my room and the Antique White is pretty good, doesn't have to be too much whiter I guess. I think the key for me is to have the ceiling painted white so that it doesn't show that the walls are not pure white in comparison.
What?!?! Only one white? Noooo Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 9May 09, 2008 10:25 am Michelle Ask the people who you bought the house off to leave all paint tins in the garage so you know they are. Have already asked. Guess what? I looked at my notes its feather white 1 1/2 strenght I have!! Paula Re: Help to choose colour for the internal walls and doors 11May 10, 2008 11:00 am Hi Rachelle,
We have used China White for both walls & ceiling & until you hold something that is pure white against it you don't realise that there is quite of bit of tint to it. Really happy with it. The photo's people have posted with a darker wall (like hogs bristle) looks good with the white ceiling & trim. Jo Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3260 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7938 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5405 |
