Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 09, 2013 10:46 am Hi all
We are in the process of painting the interior walls on our newly built home and Im seriously struggling to work out if our paint colours are going to work. We have a gloss white kitchen (polar white laminex silk) with snow white ceasarstone benchtops. Our timber flooring is a wallnut colour and our furniture is solid wood (wallnut) with balck leather backings. Our couch is also black leather. Our splashback tiles are white, but when they went in under the overhead cupboards they now look grey (Im not a fan and am looking to change these). We have put about 20 colour samples on the walls, ranging from a variety of whites, greys and browns. In the end I started painting the main open space living area in Dulux white duck half and Im not sure it works. I dont think our flooring is dark enough to go for the "lodge" rustic feel. At the same time Im not sure the clinical white approach works either. Any ideas or input would help greatly. I have attached photos below to assist Thanks in advance! Re: Wall colour help - white kitchen with timber floors 2Oct 09, 2013 11:21 am We have qld spotted gum floors (similar colour to what you have once it is polished up) with polar white kitchen. Tops are laminate in a grey stone color as we have lots of sun light and didn't want to blind myself We selected white on white for the walls. Painting is due to start next week. I'm not expecting the paint to wow me, but we have enough features that I wanted something clean and non competitive. So white on white it was with vivid white skirtings and doors. Not very adventurous in terms of paint selection, I'm afraid. I hope this helps. We went with grey it is 1/4 strength dulux silkwort below is a picture of the kitchen and then one of our dining/living. Our couch will eventually be grey. I painted up about 8 different greys and this was the only one I was pretty happy with. Love it now! Our tv cabinet and buffet (not in picture) are a very dark brown colour. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b541/fliss_mac/105abcc8cfb3be6f55bf534a5e26950d_zps4c55b1f5.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Wall colour help - white kitchen with timber floors 4Oct 10, 2013 7:52 pm Hi You might like to consider Dulux Spanish Olive or 1/2 Dulux Vanilla Quake. Both these colours look lovely in the following links with white kitchen and floorboards.
