Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 21, 2013 4:17 pm Hi all, Need your help. Is there such a situation where a mirrored glass splashback wouldn't work? We are renovating a corner kitchen and I love the mirrored splashbacks but I'm wondering if it might not work for our design? Its a small corner kitchen. And I've only really seen mirrored splashbacks across the back wall of a kitchen that has a large open space in front of the mirror so it looks fantastic as it reflects the open space. But ours would be reflecting the cupboards and bench on the other side of the kitchen (about 5 steps away). And we might have another mirrored splasback on that wall too so it will be reflecting the mirror on the other wall. Is that a bit too much reflection? I think it might be, but of course I dont' know until I see it. But I can't really afford to pay $3000 "just to see if it looks ok". Our other option was to do the mirrored splashback across the long wall where the oven is and then just coloured glass splashbacks everywhere else a similar colour to our walls? any ideas or suggestions? Or if you have seen or can post any pics of a small corner kitchen with mirrored splashbacks, that would be fantastic! Re: when mirrored splashback don't work 2Jul 23, 2013 6:46 am Hi 4ngi3......Mirror s-backs are are great to help a space seem larger, but when the mirror is mirroring cupboards, that may make the small space appear even smaller. I'd with your second choice. I've just put a mirror s-back into a clients house at the beach, her mirror mirrors the beach and ocean across the road and out to the headland......Perfect. Whilst mirrors are a good way to bring views in, as you have said sometimes they are not suited. Overtime the heat may damage the mirror apparently. Re: when mirrored splashback don't work 4Jul 23, 2013 6:53 am Dunco......thats always been on my mind with the mirrors.
