Hi guys,
My husband and I take handover of our brand new home next thursday and I'm totally stumped with what to do inside and what will suit. I thought I had an okay eye for colour but I feel totally confused with what to do and what colours and types of furniture and accessories will suit!
I was wondering if I use Michelle's list of internal selections could you all offer me a little advice?
Ceiling /Cornice - Illusive white
Walls - Taubmans martini
Skirting / Architrave - Taubmans martini gloss
Windows / Reveals / Frames - Not sure what this is?
Exposed Beams - N/A
Doors - Taubmans martini gloss, we also have stained feature doors on the home theatre and kitchen pantry.
Window Treatments - Nothing as yet, unsure what to go with here. We love the look of shutters (not sure whether to go white or dark stain) but our budget is tight
Flooring - Gerfloor creation clic in wild oak (hallway, kids activities area, kitchen, meals, family room)
Carpet
Tiles or Vinyl - Godfrey Hirst Lisbon in Cinder to home theatre and bedrooms
Lighting - Downlights in cool white light.
I'm wondering about window covering options (we love shutters but we're on a tight budget ), I have 3 fittings above the island bench in the kitchen for pendant lights but I don't know what style! Furniture wise not sure whether to go with white or dark chocolate furniture or even a colour like the grey/brown colour that Ikea sell (we're thinking of the grey/brown for our bedroom), also lounges, I love white leather but we have 2 little kids (girls aged just about to turn 5 & 2.5 yrs) so thought that was a bad idea but I think dark chocolate lounges being we have a darker floor is going to make our home look too dark and flat? I considered like a beige leather lounge but my mum thinks that will look too flat and clash with the carpet in the theatre room. The girls bedroom suites are white so we're sticking with that in there but I'm at a total loss with the rest of the house as you can tell and we can't afford any mistakes financially (who can! lol)
ANy help to turn our house into a beautiful home would be very greatly appreciated I do have photos which might help but they're only on my phone and I'm not sure if I can post any here from my phone? Actually, I have a poor neglected blog which I could upload the photos to from my phone and I could post the blog link here? Would that help?
