Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 27, 2008 8:48 pm I have finally gotten off my butt and made some decisions about paint colours to add to the house! Seeing as it's pretty bland with just one colour throughout. I even went so far as to getting samples and buying samples pots and painting with them instead of just looking at colour swatches!
Anyway, below are some pics of our family room before we moved the furniture in. 1) The first pic shows the family room with the wall recess/alcove where the TV lives. 2) Second pic is the wall adjacent to that. 3) And the third pic is the wallpaper. The paint is Wattyl 'Donkey' and I'm quite happy with the colour. It's a medium brown kind of mushroom/dirt kind of colour. It's also a nice brown in that it picks up some of the colour in our carpet in the other rooms and I was aiming to carry the colours through to have a nicer flow. The wallpapaper, on the other hand is much darker than it shows in the close up sample pic. It's a natural type of textured wallpaper with lighter brown reeds (I think). it will go in the recess/alcove part of the wall Now, my concern is this: Does it look weird/funny that the wallpaper is darker than the paint colour? I had envisioned that the 'Donkey' would be much darker but alas (and thanks to sample pots) I was mistaken. Is the 'Donkey' okay even if it's lighter than the wallpaper or should I pick a darker paint colour so that the wallpaper is lighter? [sneakersss] Re: My Colours and Wallpaper - Feedback Please?! 4Apr 28, 2008 7:41 am I don't think it looks weird/funny at all cause the paint is lighter than the wallpaper - it looks really really good!
Donkey is on our list as well for feature walls, its nice to see it used in such a large space - reaffirms that I want it in our place Fiona Re: My Colours and Wallpaper - Feedback Please?! 5Apr 28, 2008 9:01 am Thanks guys! Just wanted some confirmation I was going down the right path. I asked the Bf and all I got out of him was, "Mmm...It looks fine but I don't know?!"
haywgl What is your other wall colour? The lighter one... It's Wattyl 'Kid Leather'. It's like a beige kind of colour but leaning more towards the grey side rather than the brown. haywgl Donkey is a really nice colour and one we are looking to do a few feature walls in haywgl Donkey is on our list as well for feature walls, its nice to see it used in such a large space - reaffirms that I want it in our place It is a lovely colour if you're after a brown that's not too dark. But I hope I haven't mislead you both - the photo is edited using photoshop. I tweaked the colour to represent what it almost looks like in real life according to my monitor. I will, however, post a photo, of the sample board I painted later tonight. It's still drying... But thanks again for the feedback. Isn't it funny based on the samples I have selected Kid Leather, I'm tossing up between it and Alabaster...will have to go check out PD displays where they have used them Great job again Re: My Colours and Wallpaper - Feedback Please?! 8Apr 28, 2008 1:11 pm wallpaper looks great. can't really tell about the paint colour as it looks greenish on my screen.
